I have a steer calf that I am going to be showing this spring, but he is pretty high strung. We have gotten him completely fine with being in a chute, but I still have major problems walking him he is constantly ever second trying to duck his head and run. And once he gets going there really isn't any stopping him. Any suggestions would be great appreciated!

Work with him in a small area and maybe tie another rope on to the end of your halter lead rope, that way if he does duck his head and run you will still have him. He doesn't need to know he can get away.

Completely agree with showstick09. When I had a calf try to get away from me, my dad tied another halter to the end of the lead rope. I stayed at his head and my dad was on the end of the rope behind the calf, where the calf couldn't see him. When he went to take off to get away from me,  both of us pulled back, he thought it was just me that is stopped him and then he knews he couldn't get away from me. After we did that a couple of times, he didn't try it anymore and walked great.
