We need some advise on some basic clipping, we have a nice set of steers for sale, and been hearing people like to see them clipped.
So could someone kinda go over the basics for me?  Thanks!

The more you can do it the better you will be. YOu have to get a feel for the clippers. I also suggest you try different clippers, Andis and Wahl Switchblade both have their own plus and minus. We bought Stierwalt video and kept clipping clipping. We still clip every chance we get. We have pulled last year's show heifers out of pasture too get more experience. It is hard to tell someone how to do it. You just have to do it. You will make mistakes and that is truly how you learn.

Practice, practice, practice
when you go to shows watch the guys you think are really good, and dont be afraid to ask questions,
watch and then go right home and practice what you saw - thats the best way

Do you have somewhere you can watch people clip, like a show? That's how I learned the most. There are things online to get you started, but, in my opinion, watching someone else really helps. It's really hard to find something that explains it well enough, and every animal is different.

Other than that, it takes a lot of practice.

We traded in circles from Purina Feed for a video, but I'm not sure if they still do it. It was a while ago. It is a good video. It is one with Kirk Stierwalt, but not the ones from Sullivan's.

Try to get a chance to watch someone clip, or get a video, and practice a lot.

Good luck  :)
