It's almost been a year that Red passed.  I finally got the nerve up to read the "Red" post.  Just couldn't bring myself to do it until now.  Wow the great memories that poured thru me was almost theraputic.  I was wondering if on March 21, could Jason make the "planet" red again?  I just thought it would be a nice thing to do annually in her honor. (thumbsup) (angel)

Love you Red...miss you much!

WOW I just got in from checking a cow and waiting to see if the feet were RED. I only have one or two red ones a year, (Shorthorns aside) and I was thinking of Cathy. Justme you made me cry this morning, but its a good thing. I miss her too, but seems it is more in the spring when we talked about what we were getting for calves. Jason I vote for the change again too.

I miss those early morning phone calls from Cathy when she was really fired up about something.......I miss her giggle!  She is out walking in a meadow full of new calves in the rancher's section of Heaven!  We miss ya Red darlin!

I miss her a bunch. I remember the morning she called telling me, with this wonderful infectious giggle, that she just had born a new red bull calf. I often hear that giggle.

That Gidget heifer will rock any show it goes too lol (lol)

I named a red heifer Red Maple last year.  I've kept her but a young boy is interested in her.  Hard to part with her, but wouldn't Red love that a little boy was showing her?

I remember the first time I spoke with Cathy on the phone. I had just posted a note on SP and within a couple minutes of doing so, my phone rang. It was Cathy and we had a great visit. We spoke and emailed fairly regularly after that. The last phone call I received from her was just a very few days prior to her passing. I had emailed her to see how she was doing, and she phoned to let me know that she was feeling much better. She said that she was feeling good enough that she was planning on going to Louisville, and she was very excited about seeing many old friends. Little did I know that this would be the last time we visited. I think of her often, even though I never got to meet her in person. She was truly" one of a kind"... one of the real gems that makes your journey through life better.

Cathy and I used to talk about the theory of "pay it forward". I have tried to live by that even more so since Cathy died a year ago. I was noticing the lighted sign on the hillside that welcomes people into Denison last night. Somebody had laid out a shamrock with green christmas lights on the ground on the hill in front of the sign. I see a retired widow out on that hillside all the time with her dog tending to the flowers, picking up debris, planting new things. Nobody asked her to do it and she doesn't get paid. Most of the folks around here think she is half nuts. I even saw her the other day picking up roadside garbage along the highway in front of several of the area businesses while walking her dog.  I think that I am going to write an anonymous note thanking her for all that she does to beautify our town's welcome area and to let her know that her efforts don't go unnoticed. I may even add a little bag of doggie treat for her friend and leave them near the sign where she can find them. I think that is something Red would have done and it would make her smile. I wish I would have done something like that for Red. She just did nice things without being asked or expecting any reward.
...and then I am going to make myself a GIANT mocha carmel latte!!!  Here's to you RED!!!! <beer>
