the autistic kid, that was cool.

You know the girl's team that lost? Yeah, it was a whole team of young ladies that have certain "disabilities" (definitely not the right word, but I can't think of the right one).  I think that winning is just fine, and even winning big.  But 100-0? Come on.  It's a game, and even though it's ONLY a game...those girls that just got the snot beat out of them can't feel too good about themselves after a romp like that.  I couldn't feel good about myself if I had WON that game either.

I appreciate what Show Heifer said.

However, a team sport and an individual showing are two different things.  Both can and should be good winners and good losers.  I have seen both with terrible attitudes and I have seen people who did not know a person in and an individual sport or a kid showing who had success blamed for poor attitudes and the object of jealousy when they did not deserve to be treated that way.

In team sports we are breeding a generation of poor sports.  Look at college football and running up the scores to get the BCS ratings.  I once refereed a high school varsity game where the final score was 123-16.  There was only 2 minutes left in the game when the starters were pulled, somewhat like OU this year against Texas Tech- 6 minutes left and the B team still blitzed the Tech QB.  Against MO the University of Texas pulled the starters in the 3rd quarter and in the Big 12 Championship the Sooners did not pull theirs.  It is very poor sportsmanship IMHO.

I see it in 6-man football.  Schools know there is a mercy rule of being 45 points ahead after half time.  They do this while not letting the B and C teams play.  Our school has had a coach who will not coach next year, but because of his policy of poor sportsmanship the little guys will get the tar beat out of them for years.  It is just not right!

Chambero, I called a lot of football games and a few basketball games for your HS team.

Zack, no one said that.  They should do their best, but there is a great deal of difference in B team ability most of the time.  The coach is resposibile for the play calling.  3-pointers and full court press are his call and he is responsible, or in football blitzing and throwing the bomb.  Poor sportsmanship from a coach breeds it among the players.

I have seen coach stall the ball in basketball after they built a big lead and only would shoot layups.

In football with the second team or third team run dives.  If they score that is Okay but they were not rubbing it in.

I agree, from the start of the game the talent disparity would be evident and the coach should have slowed down the game.  I am not saying they count score points, but running full court presses is ridiculous.

playing a soft zone would have been a good thing, and hey, if they didn't know how to run a zone, it would have been a great time to run it against someone other than your own team in practice.
