I am just now starting to keep some replacement heifers from clubby bulls and would like to have them tested, but have no clue where or how to get this done.  Can someone provide me with how to go about this?

This exact question was posted last week. Do a "search" for TH/PHA or Agrinomics, the company that does most of the testing......

OR, contact the assoc that they are registered with if they are registered at all. They can get you the proper paper work and the lab address

The American Maine Anjou Association has the forms online.  Go under genetic abnormalities.  They are honoring 3 labs right now.  Good luck.  I just sent one off.

I believe its $40 for TH and PHA run together but I maybe off a little on the amount.  Heck, this board is to help people, don't let a couple people turn you off of the Planet!

I've used AgriGenomics in Mansfield IL for TH, PHA, OS & AM testing.  Usually can get results by phone within a week & they're always courteous & helpful.

Most of the information can be found here… http://www.maine-anjou.org/geneticforms.html

The best instructions for how it's done are on the Agrigenomics form above or…  http://maine-anjou.org/pdfs/2009/AgGenSubmissionforms-aug19.pdf

Pfizer charges $27 each or $45 for a combined TH&PHA test.  Igenity charges $26 each.  AgriGenomics charges $25 each or $40 combined.  It will probably be easiest to have your vet collect the samples.

BTW, don’t read much into Show Heifer’s reply.  That’s her typical bubbly personality shining through like a ray of sunshine on a rainy day.

Thanks all the info is very helpful.  I did a search before starting this discussion but couldn't find what I was looking for.  Thanks again.

just out of curiosity, which information did you find before you posted as a way to see how breeds are at being effective getting this information out?
