Thoughts on grade of concrete and drain in Cooler & Washrack concrete

What are your opinion on the appropriate grade of the concrete in the cooler and the type of drain system used in a Cooler and Washrack? I am looking to build a new showbarn and wanted to figure out the best system and grade of concrete to use in cooler that has worked for others. Thanks.

go at least a 1/4 inch per foot on the pitch of the floor to the drain. i would suggest using a trench drain at least a third as long as your cooler. removeable pipes are also a great thing to have to keep the cattle from swinging where you wash and clip.

How do you keep the bedding out of the through drain?

One suggestion that I would emphasis is to NOT put in a drain tile system.  I had one for a year, it worked great and then would take zero water.  They get way too gummed up.  I now have a 4 inch sewer pipe that drains to a side hill.  Even in the winter I can dump a 5 gallon pail of hot water down to thaw things out and it works awesome.  It is also a ton cheaper than digging a drain.  It is a ton easier to clean as you just go to the end and scoop up hair, manure, dirt, etc.  I wouldn't do it any other way!  For a system in the cooler and washrack I have a 12 inch wide gutter that is 6 inches deep on the drain end and zero on the top end.  It is 20 feet long and drains very well.  Not sure what that makes the pitch.
