Don't worry, I'll be like the 2 other ladies on here.. and out of 96 people who have read this.. I'm sure none of you have EVER heard of any of these bulls, let alone any experience with them!  ???

Sometimes, it just really gets me.. From someone who trys to put an answer for about every question I read... to not getting a single answer from anyone on a question! (argue)

Did you ever stop and think that the people that can answer your question have not read your post, the time stamp on your post says it was 4 something in the morning when you posted, it was 10 something when I read this but is actually 7 something in my timezone? Relax, I bet you get the replies you want in time. I my self can not answer your question.
I could make stuff up if it would make you feel better.

I only have experience with 2 of the mentioned bulls. The Midland cattle are usually a touch on the moderate side, but have a lot of rib and muscle. He usually worked well on the prettier made females that needed to be stoutened up and moderated a little. The Luttons are pretty to look at, but he needs to be used on a heavier muscled female IMO.

Our small herd is built on the Dateline foundation. Every animal in our herd has him in their pedigree. While we have limited experience, we are very pleased to have that influence on our herd. Connealy Dateline was know for low birth weight with cutting edge performance. Dateline's sire, DHD Traveler 6807, had a major influence on the Angus breed for several decades. Connealy Dateline's son, Vermilion Dateline  was an elite power bull in the late 90's and earlier this last decade. Vermilion Dateline does not share the same calving ease numbers, but he set the standard for growth, muscle, thickness, and power in his generation.

We our very pleased with the performance and the phenotype that Dateline has influenced on our herd. With limited resources for working cattle and the fact that the herd is our kids' 4-H projects, we are very pleased with the docile nature of these animals too.

I have no experience with Kessler's Rainman, but Lutton has a very eviable record for developing outstanding phenotype for the show ring. BR Midland had a strong influence in the herd that we got our original females from and that South Dakotan breeder loved the performance from Midland. That was always the focus with his herd is bulls with outstanding performance, longevity, and docility.

Neighbor down the road has a Midland son for 4 years now. Bull lacks butt  guts and nuts IMO. Calves cut real good tho. He has not pulled a calf and he seems to think his steers grow really well. He has yet to retain a heifer from the bull. he just butchers them. Lutton is a kick ass show bull from what I can gather. Dateline has been around along time and is highly proven. He is a fire and ice mating IMO. 6807 on a Scotch cap. But it has proven to work. High $EN value on almost a 7 frame. Go figure lol. Rainman seems to show up in a lot of good females pedigrees but he was before my time so I dont know much on him. I know its not much but just my 2 cents.

I bought a Midland cow a couple of years ago.  She is moderate framed, deep bodied, wide sprung and adequate muscled.  I'd take a few more just like her.  Our first calf out of her (by Bismarck) is made just like her.  Not flashy, but a real beef cow.

We have used several Midland and dateline sons and grandsons on our commercial cows.  The calves come easy and grow really well.  Not  the stoutest but sell really well to our calf buyers.

I would have to agree with dcbehle Dateline has made many great females and arguably Vermilion Dateline his best son has been very good for me. Sound and consistent with daughters having great udders has a bit of birth not a hfr bull but not a problem over cows. B.R.Midland had limited semen released over here as TGCC said some lacked eye appeal but bred great numbered cattle that had good carcases. A few structural and foot issues with some I have seen. The other two did not make it over here. As for ppl slow to respond we are all on different time zones and some can only check the computer once ever day or to.

So what would you predict on a pedigree like this, or think about it?

Lutton
x
BR Midland
x
Coneally Dateline
x
Kesslers Rainman 002

from the Lady Blackbird cow family of Mc Lemore Farms, Bradley OK, that originated from Whitestone/ Krebs???

Might have a bull calf from this cow, that might be worth keeping back to use

Moderate framed, good ribbed, adequate muscle in a pretty package. I'll go out on a limb and say Lutton and Midland would complement each other.

I'll give the thumbs up on Dateline.  Plenty of body....the only negative, seems like many are pretty short necked.

I like the Lutton calves. Have had  few good ones ourselves. Also have a few Midland daughters in our herd. We like them.

Other bulls we use are Lazer, Mandan, Bismark, Payday, Marathon, Eagle Eye, Lookout. Plus our 2 great bulls and sires of champions, Coach 5040 (think TC Stockman 365 x Scotshcap)  and Trademark (LaGrande Forum x Grand champion heifer Ft. Worth 2005). Just great cattle with show ring success and GROWTH.(Semen available now).

What we think will be a GREAT bull is our Marathon son "Christians Marathon" out of a Well's cow (Saugahatchie). We will have a few calves out of him any time now.
