The 2009 "Rookie of the Year" for Matt Lautner Cattle. Who would have guessed that after he didn't show up at Denver? I'm gonna wait and see how the calves grow before I jump on the bandwagon but he's making some nice calves.

Who would have thought?  Tiger Woods rookie of the year in the same year that his Name Sake has taken a major plunge.

I didn't think the bull had a chance when he didn't show up for Denver.  I tried him on one as well.

guess that just goes to show that just cuz a bull isn't displayed doesn't mean he's terrible...amazing

It doesn't mean that there weren't/aren't good reasons that he wasn't displayed either. He is a bull that will have to do it the real way. Through  his calves. That'll be the best way in the end.

I wrote the bull off after seeing him at stud, but it does appear he makes fancy babies.  His calves have to get past 300 lbs before I change my mind to the point that I'd use him though.

Nice to have a THF option that makes them cool early, too bad he's still a HW grandson. Nonetheless, best of luck to the owners and those that have used him.

i seen tiger woods in person and thought he was something i would never use.  but like any breed, judge a bull by his offspring and consistancy. i havent seen enough of them to study as a group. but we cant just rate a bull from the calves that are pictured on matt lautners page.

I haven't seen tiger woods,  but if you judge a book by its cover, I am willing to bet NO ONE would use Meyer 734, or Cunia.... seems they have become the standard every bull strives for....  and I am in NO WAY putting any bull on their level yet. Lets see how some of these bulls hold up over a matter of DECADES, not months, not a few years.

As far as the "rookie of the year award"  - I consider that a marketing ploy and put no value on it.
As far as baby pics from ONE farm - again, a marketing ploy that I put little to no value on.

Judge a bull by the calves on a number of farms, from a number of different cows. I agree 100%!

I agree that you don't want to judge a bull just by the calf pictures on the blog of argueably the best promoter in the business.  As I've stated before, like many on here I was skeptical of the bull and had no intention of using the bull for a while.  A close friend used him on 3 cows this last year and one of them is the calf pictured in Matt's Ad.  All 3 cows were different pedigrees and they all 3 will be marketable.  IMO, their most consistent sire group and that includes Monopoly.

I gave him a try on one of my best cows.
