I agree, that is why we are still running our 97 F350 Crew Cab 4X4  with 200,000, and our 2002 F350 Crew Cab Dually with 220,000.  We pull heavy trailers 30,000+ lbs.  My brother converted a 48' semi van trailer, to haul cars.  The 2002 rolls along @ 75 mph getting 9-10 mpg, no chip, just air bag rear suspension and an custom exhaust.  Ford should have left well enough alone IMO.

Its kinda funny that all of us say that the 7.3 should have been left alone and i to agree.  The reason they didn't is because it was a dirty running engine which i honestly don't mind at all.  Second was people in town that pull there 3500# pound campers just could stand how darn load.  ANOTHER REASON I DONT MIND.  The 3 rd is they are pretty restrictive in that u can do with injectors and computers.  With the new laws they couldn't clean them up enough. 

As far as the duramax trucks honestly love them!  I personally do not own 1 because really don't need the payment.  I have seen quite a few with 400,000 plus on them.  I live in Indiana and the RV company ship those suckers everywhere and we see a bunch of trucks running everywhere.  Good luck with it and don't feel bad about ditching the 6.0 ford no 1 else does.

Yeah , on the ford 3/4 and 1ton, the only thing that most wear through pretty quick is the front end ball joints, bearings, etc.  The extra weight of the diesel really wears those parts out quicker.  The aftermarket replacement parts have greasable ball joints, which should make them last.
