trying to kick the tires one last time....

I have a strictly business cow that really has started it all for me and been the cornerstone of my program. Shes now 12 years old and the poor old girl last year was due in jan but then calves in may (she must have slipped and got re-bred and i never saw). this year she did the same thing. she was bred for an april calf and has yet to calf. What I was wondering is, even though she has gotten old and cant carry a calf anymore full term, do you think she still could flush? like I said she has been the cornerstone of my program. I havent retained any heifers as they always seem to sell by april and may of that year. I was just hoping that maybe I could flush her and try to get 1 or 2 heifers. I wouldnt be hoping for a 15-20 egg flush, just a 5 or 6 egg flush. Since she isnt carrying full term anymore and getting old, do you think she could do that or am I just tryin to kick the tires one too many times?

In fact, it was something i was looking for, a cow who didnt diminish.

Similar situation... this cows Dam was a purebred and old... weaned this calf... took her for flush and got 8 eggs from 2 flushes..6 from rumor mill and 2 from Statesman....just put those eggs in 3 weeks ago

I have seen some older cows flush very well. I had an old cow that I was planning to send to town after she weaned her calf, but a fellow in Scotland wanted to buy her to try and flush her. I was very reluctant to sell her to him because she was old and was concerned that she would not flush well. He eventually talked me into putting a price on her, and we sent her to the ET center. She has been flushed 5 times now, and has produced between 8-14 embryos each time. The Scottish breeder has now given me the cow back... I think this is the first time I have ever sold a cow and then got her back at no cost!  Her last flush was 12 embryos and now I am trying to decide if I should flush her once more to try for some embryos for myself.

Thanks Everyone! and Thanks Gargan, I know you like her! I will probably flush her in Dec or Jan then. I have been contemplating on what to flush her too. It will probably be either Point Taken or Yellow Jacket. I will post some pics on her to show you what she looks like
