Thanks, Shortybreeder.  1625 will be running with cows for a few more weeks, since we are mostly a fall-calving herd.  0415 is a daughter of another Performance Dam, Fair Lady 9333, that raised a good calf at age 16.

1. Have you taken 1625 in to be collected yet, and/or when will you?  How did he do?
2. How will you market semen?  Privately or through a semen sales company?
3. What will price of semen be?

1625 will need to run with our cows and some heifers a little longer.  I'll get back to you when we know.  The best guess is that he will be collected in Feb. if that can be worked out.  The price will be reasonable.

Need to send SEK 50 or so straws and put him on there between 20-25 bucks a straw-It might take awhile-but with the real pasture pics and a good description he will sell some and gain momentum-Everybody is doing photoshops and slick marketing-one like him will get attention with a straightforward couple pictures-then some progeny pics-And a progression of the same non professional images as he matures O0

Homeplace Hot Commodity 1625 is triple free from genetic defects.  He has a shot at being a unique son of old Hot Commodity, because he is an outlier for 7 EPD's as well as 2 of the $ indexes.  Look up 1625's 50K genomic EPD's on the ASA website.  Reg. number is 4251563 and he is a non-certificate bull.

Collection has not happened yet.  Hopefully it will be next week. 

Sales contract should signed soon, and it may be marketed with more than one company.

Price will be $25 per straw.  His ad will be in the April issue of Shorthorn Country.

Finally, Homeplace Hot Commodity 1625 semen is available at Cattlevisions.  His photo and write-up may not be on their website for a day or two.  His first calves were born unassisted, and are red, polled, and have extra style and correctness.

All 1625 calves have been born unassisted and are vigorous.  His last two this month were out of first calf heifers, so the shape of the calves is desirable for calving ease.  Birth weights tend to follow the dam of his calves, about like old Hot Commodity.

Can you please tell your opinion on how you use Dale's Homeplace Hot Commodity 1625 compared to Jim Compton's Fresh Air 35 bull?

Fresh Air is the highest performing bull Ive used -Bw to weaning (that includes Deertrail Awesome-Byland Goldwalk, Top Draft,Deertrail T Bone, UB Mad Max etc) With limited use there have been some really nice very growthy show calves from him too-Champion hiefer at Badger 2 years ago-Reserve steer at Badger a couple months ago etc-I have a heifer back here thats out of a very moderate cow who we have had to drylot due to lack of pasture and injuries THE RED ONE IS HER BORN SEPT 26 She was 88 pounds at birth-and thick pictured first at 12 days old-she took off growing and went through the worst stages and is now 4 months old and over 400 pounds-and as big as the April Chi angus and simms She may have a 205 wt as big as alot of bulls Shes a muddy mess in pics from a week ago-Just hope she finally fills out and widens up some like when she was a baby MAY NOT WIN THE SHOW-WINS THE GROW HANDS DOWN Homedale  Hot Commodity is going to be the easiest fleshing-EZ calving bull who is just a tank-To me one of the better real commercial bulls who keeps looking stouter while being worked hard. He may not win the show-but sure WINS THE NUMBERS, and REAL WORLD function  Terrible pic of him standing uphill-hes the best all around commercial walking shorthorn ive seen anywhere-especially to be useable on heifers I may use him on the red Fresh Air if she will widen up some-I only have one other  heifer -whos stout but small-using him on her You want to use Fresh Air on the moderate stout ones-or close And Homedale Hot Commodity ideally on ones a little bigger-They need to have some butt on them-he does the rest heifer or cow O0
