When the vet was here on Friday she said she thought she would go into labor in the next 12 hours. That was three days ago!!! We even had a huge storm here last night that we thought might throw her into labor. The vet said her cervix was totally open on Friday, anyone see any potential problems we should be looking for? She seems fine, eating, drinking and looking like she should.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all of the help and suggestions. We did have the vet out yesterday. She said that the uterus is not twisted and she could feel a head, and the calf was alive. The cow's uterus was fully open. We are still just watching her. Nothing yet. The tissue ball only shows up when she's laying down. When the vet came she was standing so she didn't get to see it and she couldn't figure out what it was from the picture either. I tend to think it's tissue from the vaginal wall bulging. She's really not fat, hasn't been on grain since we showed her two years ago.
Hoping she will calf tomorrow since it's my husband's day off!!! Ours tend to calve in the early am. I'll keep you all posted.
thanks again!

If by your statement "the cow's uterus was fully open" you (she) means the cervix is fully dilated then I would suggest that she come back - dilation of the cervix is the first stage of labor and if it was fully dilated on Friday there may be a problem - if that is not what she intended to convey I am not sure what the "uterus is fully open" means - these might be helpful to you
