Wade Rogers' Tag 1 Heat Wave x Double Vision x Double Stuff Heifer

I was browsing on Showsteers.com earlier and found this heifer. I think this one is really neat!!!!!!!

We raised the tag 3 steer on his sale.

I like the Red full sister myself. Sadly,neither one will raise much of a calf on their own,giving how they are bred,there won't be enough milk for a kitty Kat,let alone a calf.

The Heatwave side will hurt the milk, but I sure can't say anything bad about the majority of the DV dtrs & how they milk.

Yes he is. He won Reserve at the open feeder calf show in Albert lea, Minn. We also had him at The Iowa State Fair this year.
The other Monopoly steer we raised is at Matt Lautner's. We are going down to see him next Sunday before he goes to Oklahoma.

I've raised many Double Stuff and Double Vision daughters over the past 10 years and all were bred to good milking cows. The Double Stuffs all milked adequate at best and the Double Visions were all less than average.There are exceptions and difference of opinions on what is a good milker and what isn't.

I have Double Vision females as well as Heat Waves in my herd and have never had any trouble with them not milking well. Im sure there are people who have had bad milkers out of the Heat Seeker/Heat Wave lines, but that is probably because they were out of bad milkers themselves. A Heat Seeker cow in my herd raised the biggest calf for us this year.

We have two Heat Seeker cows that have tons of milk. One has had two sets of twins, and we never had to supplement. These twins were never behind our other calves as far as weight. We have sold Heatwave heifers that have successfully raised calves of their own.

Saw Wades calves this weekend a really good set that will bring big dollars.The 2 shorthorn heifers are really good and can be shown either way, it would be a shame to have to kill either heifer if they are shown in the mkt class. its going to take alot to get them bought. really liked the dirty hairy steer too

He does have a nice set.  I like the Monopoly steers best - 3 and 23.  The lot 6 is really good too.  After that there are 10-12 really good ones that really depend on your preference for ranking.  Other favorites?

It has been my experience that the DV's milk better than the Stuffs. This is a DV dtr that I have & the majority of the Dv's I have seen have udders like this & I think it is plenty.

my comment about not raising a calf was based more on concerns about fertility and pelvic size, the guy that implants embryos for me makes a pretty sour face when discussing pelvic measures in HW daughters, some of these beautiful clubby females are just hard to get stuck, maybe cowboy has an opinion

How was tag 3 temperament? He followed me around our place like a dog when he was a baby. All of his Mother's calves are like this. She has had some good ones. I hope to get down and see him again before he goes to his new home.
