Walmart beef

We eat it all the time.  If you know what you are looking for, you can get good cuts.  And we are kind of frugal, so a red quick sale sticker on it makes it taste even better.  ;D

Walmart calls their beef "tender-aged"

Can't find anywhere yet what that means.

They also say they only accept one in 5 carcasses.

Everyone else does too as 50% of the market is select or lower and goes to hamburger, tacos etc. the next biggest chunk is 25% goes to grocers some only has to eliminate a few to get at 20%.

Very misleading.

No wonder marketing makes so much $

I do competition BBQ, AND WE BUY ALL our brisket at Sam's ,,best I can find without paying big money for waygu

Bought some choice ribeyes there Monday night.  They were great.

I won't eat it because at the local Wal-Mart they let it sit out on the dock or back room for hours at a time.  Same with the other meats.

Walmart just does business better than most. They didn't become the World's 6th largest country by doing business as usual.

If you read the tiny, tiny fine print on the label it says it is injected with up to 12% solution to improve flavor and tenderness. I not going to pay $8/lbs for water and flavor enhancing chemicals. I'm not a Walmart hater just a 100% beef lover.

Walmart doesn't buy corn feed beef?

Quite a bit of what wal mart buys comes from tyson. Just read the package and see where it was processed that tells you alot about the quality by what is killed in that plant.

I have been into the BBQ thing for awhile but I have never competed in competition. I am looking to get into competition in the Rocky Mountain Region. I have read many books in BBQ and eat alot of BBQ as it is my favorite even though Wyoming lacks in it, Missouri where I came from did not, so I know good BBQ. While I do agree with good corn raised beef and pork, every good BBQ book I have read from winners in BBQ competition injects there beef and pork to enhance flavor. So I don't have a problem with Walmart's beef being injected with flavors, yes you pay per pound but Walmart's prices are competitive enough to justify that cost to me. I 2ND Sam's club has great beef and pork and I like Walmart beef and pork also. When buying bigger quantity, I buy from Sam's but just me and my family I buy from Walmart. I know alot of different people who do compete in BBQ competition and use Sam's club beef and pork.

WalMart does buy corn-fed beef.You guys kill me, on here sometimes!@!@!!!! Dang-it, just because Wal Mart and Tyson are located in the Ozarks, people believe they are putting open cows fed rained-on Fescue hay into their product lines.

I hate to tell Y'uns this, but, NW Arkansas, and the Ozarks in general, is where it's happennin'.....

I think everybody knows they are the same company, it's just at Wal-Mart you can buy in smaller quantities is what he is saying.

we butcher our own fat cattle, or similar from friends...however there are times when we run out and have tried Wal-Mart beef....not a fan!!!!  In fact, even my kids no the difference with no solicitation.

Most if not all of Wal Mart beef is Cargill beef. That's who has the new contract.
