After seeing the post below I really don`t want to stir the pot so to speak about JPJ but am curious as to what bull would you use on a JPJ heifer so as not to downsize any further? And please if you don`t have anything constructive to say then just leave it be.

I have no experience but have been hearing things about TM Gus. Anyone?

Do you want to stay pb? or durham red?  Wanting to save heifers or get show steers?  Maybe Squall in the Red angus.

I will probably try to stay pb Shorthorn or possibly Maine.I am not really interested in the Durham Reds but that is a good calving ease option.

I am a broken record- BUT Gizmo makes for great replacements and excellent calving ease. THe tempermant on GIzmo calves is amazingly calm. I haven't found any easier to get along with.

From distributors' $100 bucks, but I have found it cheaper than that from private sellers.
Some will say ....OH $100 bucks my that is horrible. But, we spent $3000 at the vet one year with c-sections on heifers because we used a "calving ease" sire. I would pay the $100 for peice of mind. Especailly if the heifer is worth it.

This is a good question.  Jungels probably has some of the most JPJ heifers.  Does anyone know what they are using on them?

Also, is there a Gismo son with low calving ease that produces as well (with semen on the market)?

I am not sure on Wymore's calving ease but there are some impressive pictures of him on this site. He is a Gizmo son.

I used Northern Improvement on my JPJ influenced heifer. I think Ace of Diamonds would click with them too. He seems to make some really pretty females, at least the ones I've seen.

He won't make them much taller though.

The best Secretariat calf I've seen was a white one shown this year, that looks a bit like that white one in your avatar picture  ;)  I think maybe you're right, they have more frame than JPJ on average, but I've seen quite a few smaller framed Secretariats (and that suits me fine). I think we're going to use him this year.

A&T Captain Obvious 606S. x4113971. He is photoed as a 4 year old in pasture condition. Yes ,he is moderate but sound. His dam is a Dover female and a flush recently sold in Denver for $3500. Our pen averaged 5.3 frame in Denver. THF, PHAF. The calves are very versitile- dispostion is awesome. The first daughters calve this year .
