I was wondering what everyones experiences were with Pale Face. I am thinknig of breeding him to our Dr. Who heifer after she calves this April. What does he add to his calves? Thanks in advance :)

I've always liked the Pale Face calves I've seen.  I know he must work well on Heat Seeker females because Brad sold alot of those bred Heat Seekers to him in his sale.

I have never been a fan and used him quite a few years ago personly. My opinionis  I don't think you would like that mating.Probably won't be stout enough boned or thick enough for you.May get a little leggy and tubey bodied for your liking.

SOME can do this......you have to use him on LITTLE TH Carriers....like Heat Seeker and Waves, Double Stuff and Visions, and those type of cows. Pale Face produced many Champions and awesome cows that are working REAL WELL, like Womanizer's mom and 2008 Ohio State Fair Grand or Reserve steers mom (can't remember which, the red Heat Wave of Campbells).  He's not perfect, but he can still do it.

She's not a TH carrier, but she is a smaller framed animal. Mature weight probaly around 1300. Here is a picture of her.

We've got a Dr. Who x Angus 1st calf heifer at home that has a Pale Face calf at her side now. Long bodied, killer profiled, good muscle, certainly not a high seller, but not a throw away calf either. Calf was born unassisted, coal black no white on him, and momma is solid black probably about the same size as your heifer.

I have used Pale Face a few times on first calf heifers. The only thing that I really liked about the calves were that they were very small at birth. On the other hand the calves continued to stay small and did not have enough grow and bone to them. They were very small framed even out of larger framed heifers. All of the times I used him, I never got a baldy either, even out of baldy cows. lol.

Calf in my avatar is out of a Pale Face X Heat Seeker Cow.  She throws really nice calves and consistently.  I'd take all of that cross I could get.

As a side, Pale Face resides near me and still looks good & sound.
