We are thinking about buying a generator and needed some advice.  Was wondering what size we should get.  We will be hooking up two blowers and sometimes two fans at shows.  How many surge watts and running watts?

At least a 5000 running watt, we have the 6500 watt with something like 8000 surge watts and never have any problems. Comes in handy when the local utility does something stupid as well.

If you plan on keeping it and using it for a long time look at the Honda, if you are on a budget look at Home Depot, the generator my wife picked up there has a Yamaha motor, just not as nice an over all generator as the Honda's

I second the Honda suggestion...plus they are AMAZINGLY quiet.  Great for carting around to shows.

I would suggest a Tsurumi. They are powered by Honda and a little more expensive, but in my opinion easily the best mobile power on the market.

That unit will not run 2 blowers efficiently, if they will run at all. I have a Honda 2000, the quite model, it will run 1 blower with the heat off. I would rather be over powered than under powered with a genorator, next thing you know is there are phone chargers, clippers and a host of other things plugged in at the same time.

We have always had good luck with Honda water pumps.  I have to make sure the generator will run two blowers for the fax mine are hooked together to make one.  8000 running watts be enough?

That would be more than enough to run to blowers, just make sure you plug them into 2 different circuits, just like at home.

boy I would think 8,000 would be a bit big. Honda generators are top of the line, I say you get away with a 4,000

The Honda EM4000s or EB4000 will run your equipment but you are maxed out at that wattage, the EM5000S or EB5000 cost about 180 more.
They have a cheaper 5000 but it is not on wheels, it is more of a truck mount type. (can get to be a pain in a hurry if you are moving it around and loading and unloading it shows)

If it were me I would go with the EM5000S, it is electric start, will run both blowers with some power to spare, has 7000 watts starting power, The EB5000 is about $180 cheaper, but I am getting older and not pull starting those things when it is 30* out in the morning at a show is worth $180 to me.

I think a 4000-5000W generator might be enough. Most small generators are gas generator. If you do not need a portable one, then using a honda or yamaha is OK. I just pick a second hand generator up on a forum for $259.99 days ago, which I guess charges $38 shipping. It was $419.99-$90 in store.

do you have a welder?

might add a little power to run that too in a pinch in a remote location.
