Corrientes are ugly little beasts, but a gentle breed, and you are right about the udders.
So did he tell you he was a Corriente breeder before or after you got married ;D
Interesting though. She did have the proper horns when we first got her. He did buy one later that doesn't seem as great, but she doesn't look like yours either. Well in any case, this is one bargain that has paid off.
We also have a handful of Salers. Used a bull or two for a couple of years when I was a little kid (I thought the big red guy looked like a Buffalo!!). The steers are flat sided hard feeding beasts, but I really like the influence they put in the cows. Very maternal, good milkers.
I think there must be a couple of farms with Pinzgauers as I've seen them at shows in small numbers.
Blonde D'Aquitaines were stalled beside us at Agribition, and there were probably at least 5 breeders, so they are here. A friend said he tired to help someone break one once and it was absolutely the orneriest animal he'd ever encountered. Not saying that is a breed thing though.
There is a little "breed" (it's really more of a composite turned breed) that started in Alberta, called the Speckle Park. They are small but seem to be well put together. Could see them being good for the small guy with not much land sort of thing. And they are darn cute ;D Apparently a guy sitting by my Mom at the big classic (champions of Canada's major shows of all breeds compete against each other) says "I've got to stop looking at those darn things before I do something stupid and buy one."
