I have been approached by a fellow breeder about taking  cattle to Denver.  Not sure what would be fair to charge, it would be 3 head and they would all be sale cattle.  Its about 1300 miles from our place to Denver.  Asked around a bit here but everyone just gives me the runaround.  Any thoughts??

If you are not in the business of hauling cattle what is wrong with picking up $200 per head to haul the cattle to Denver.  $600 would help offset your fuel costs and help your friend.  The professional haulers I know charge would charge a lot more per head unless they were hauling a pot load.

If cattle are your business and by no way am I a tax consultant, but, you can deduct mileage. Current rate is .55 a mile. If its 1300 one way then 2600 round trip, the government says you are allowed $1430.00. I am not sue I would charge that. LOL.
Just a suggestion- I would get some cattle to take back on the way home. No sense in hauling an empty trailer back from Denver. You could haul cattle back along the way.
