It's that time of the year, after all the work and waiting what do you have on the ground that you're excited about?

Calf on the right is a Mandalong Super Flag x Patent/Lily heifer. Doc might know a thing or two about the Lily cow. Middle is a Leader 18th x Improver/924 heifer. Left is a Bonanza x Little Cedar Weston Mary bull calf. The cat is Wild as Hell x Runs Real Fast, feed bill is pretty low on that one.

Medium rare, yea I know a little on the Lily.  Everybody that I've talked to are really pleased with their Lily daughters. The Asset cross worked real well on her. You have some interesting genetics in that Super Flag calf and the 18th heifer. That 18th heifer is bred like I like them. Keep me informed on how she progresses.

This a Feb. heifer by Evolution out of B Good Dottie that's at my house. I'm pretty pleased with her.

Her BW was an even 85 lbs. As far as the Hot Commodity's go, I don't that I've had one over 85 yet. Most of them have been upper 70's to low 80's. Fact is, the first one that we had born was like 74 lbs and I thought "crap I have screwed up". About 3 weeks later that sucker turned the wick up and didn't look back. IMO, he is one of those rare bulls, that you can breed your heifers to and not worry or breed a donor to and get a show winner. I'm attaching a pic of a two year old Hot Commodity out of a first calf heifer.

Hectic year but when you have livestock that can happen. Our renegade blues heifer had a little bigger calf then we expected and so did the front and center but they didn't require assistance. We are personally done but co owned cows and group we calve out for others only half way. Got our first 2 embryo calves a original monopoly heifer and a one in the chamber bull. We have a fun group of calves One In The Chamber, Deadliest Catch- Skinner, Colburn Primo, SHR Sniper hereford, Hard Whiskey,  Chuckie MAB son owned by Hildebrand Hay and Cattle, Homewrecker hereford by Hometown 10y owned by HHC...

Just a fullblood calf

Been after germ plasm diversity. Dam goes to a few dead ends such atan without cunia, tatan without atan etc

Dam has a few dead ends. Doesn’t mean they are good or bad, just different.

I will run 50k and maybe 250k if diversity is not exposed with 50k.

Done to maximize unrelated % against current bottlenecks purebred population but also fullblood base.

Again, not good or bad, just hopefully different if something comes up that is useful but not yet known.

No pics yet, but the best ones at our place are by Hot Commodity, Deception, Red Reward and Red Knight. Gonna start halter breaking the early Jans soon. Pretty pumped about the set we've got brewing this year!

My best calves are out of simplify and a Sull Payday son.

I'm loaded with mediocrity this spring but a couple  that I favor for their breeding is this moderator hfr in video link. She is sired by mrg Peter (pb American Aberdeen) and out of a first calf hfr that was out of my Houdini bull and a shorthorn cow. She was 50# at birth.

I also like this 3/4 simmy bull calf (pictured) that is out of red revolver x broker first calf hfr.  He was 77 # at birth.

Been having a downpour of Alamo calves.  Mostly solid red but this one here sticks out pretty good.  Out of Alamo and a Cartwright (Bonanza x DRC cow) daughter

I am really digging this Pays To Believe calf out of our Steel Force donor cow. She is stylish, sound, and awesome fronted. I am halter breaking her and an HPF Optimizer x Steel Force. The Optimizer is really looking good as well. Maybe not as stylish but certainly broody looking.

These two are a fresh set of Dividend x Improver/924 bull calves.

Those are a couple of nice calves. Could be interesting on some of today's genetics.

I always think of ohlde when I hear the name dividend. As wel as the other landmark bulls he and others helped import.

A different time.

That's one source I've never heard the stories from.

Recently acquired some semen on a bull he created using a Poly Cumberland cow who was a daughter of Dividend. Too many bulls not enough cows, but I'll get some used soon.

When he "quit" shorthorns, he sold or help sell  some to cal poly. When they got out, he bought 5 or so back. That's where jakes proud jazz came from I think.
