Was that Dividend x an Improver Margie 924 from Aldens-I have a few left on O Mally- he was a Dividend x Kimillhill JMO-hed work as well on a fullblood maine as Dividend did.The one that changed them the most-maybe soundest and certainly the thickest (fron the ones Ive seen)was deertrail Overtime-He was almost solid red-was a full bro to BBS Hopes prime time-but way different- Guiness x leader 18th x Highfield Hope-one of the stoutest Irish females ever. The stoutest daughter graddaughter Irish was the Af Deerpark Kimillhill-Starting with the one out of 2975 -warriors dam. People forget how well 2975 works on certain cattle. Always thought someone like Ralph Larson would get along well with 2975 and a bull like overtime. O0

I'm loaded with mediocrity this spring but a couple  that I favor for their breeding is this moderator hfr in video link. She is sired by mrg Peter (pb American Aberdeen) and out of a first calf hfr that was out of my Houdini bull and a shorthorn cow. She was 50# at birth.

I also like this 3/4 simmy bull calf (pictured) that is out of red revolver x broker first calf hfr.  He was 77 # at birth.  That little dude is a chunk-revolvers a good heifer-bull to throw that quality O0

Just a fullblood calf

Been after germ plasm diversity. Dam goes to a few dead ends such atan without cunia, tatan without atan etc

Dam has a few dead ends. Doesn’t mean they are good or bad, just different.

I will run 50k and maybe 250k if diversity is not exposed with 50k.

Done to maximize unrelated % against current bottlenecks purebred population but also fullblood base.

Again, not good or bad, just hopefully different if something comes up that is useful but not yet known.
Sturdy looking calf!

Here is a one month old heifer out of a WLE Uno Mas first calf heifer. Her father is our young herd bull who's Yardley High Regard x HPF Delightful. She's stout, wide based, and has lots of hair. Birth weight was 70 lbs.

It's that time of the year, after all the work and waiting what do you have on the ground that you're excited about?

Calf on the right is a Mandalong Super Flag x Patent/Lily heifer. Doc might know a thing or two about the Lily cow. Middle is a Leader 18th x Improver/924 heifer. Left is a Bonanza x Little Cedar Weston Mary bull calf. The cat is Wild as Hell x Runs Real Fast, feed bill is pretty low on that one.

Although changes will occur, at this early juncture of development, I am extremely pleased with a handful of calves.  One is an ET Irish Whiskey x Nobleman bull calf; another one is his maternal sister by Rumor Mill.  The final calf that has me excited in another Rumor Mill heifer out of a Sooner granddaughter.  As I mentioned earlier, time will tell.

Sorry- don't have any pics, but I purchased last spring- 2017 in the Waukaru Bull Sale a yearling bull out of the KL Teddy bull Toby is using.  I used him on my 2nd calvers, some older cows and clean up on my heifers.  Wow-- super nice calves coming out of this bull-- these have consistent commercial calves stamped all over them from a variety of background pedigree mothers.  So far all are solid red- which is fine with me.  They come out as skinny little sausage links and I was worried with the first couple that oh boy these calves are going to have no thickness--  but give them about 2 days and POOF they literally POOF out!  Again super pleased with how they all look the same-- makes for selling in the fall as groups much easier.

I have an interesting crossbred it’s sire is a 70’s fullblood Italian Chianina named Ivory Lillo. I still have to double check with a DNA test as the cow was AI’d to two different bulls 12 hours apart but shape and color have me 90% sure.

Usually I just lurk here, but I'm too excited to not share this little fullbood cutie. We have American Aberdeens, a couple fullbloods and using them for a commercial type herd. She was standing within three minutes of being born and walking in ten. She's not that downhill either, camera person needs work.
