What's wrong with America

I have few vices in life.  However, I do like a tall, cool, GLASS bottle of Coca Cola.  Coca Cola just announced a "green" bottle with half the calories and made with some natural sweetener, and a bottle made of ICE.  Only available in South America.  The "green" bottle is supposedly made of some environmentally friendly substance and the ice bottle is to just be placed in the sand after drinking and it will melt.  I'm not making that up.  So much for those of you who like to nurse a bottle on your desk all afternoon.  You can get a green bottle or an ice bottle of Coke in South America.  You can get a glass bottle of Coke in Mexico.  Even the darn polar bears are drinking a GLASS bottle of Coke on TV.  Why does it take an act of Congress for me to get a GLASS bottle of Coke?  I can't stand Coke out of a 2 liter bottle or any of those plastic containers.  It's only slightly better out of a can.  Some fountain Cokes are decent, I've been told the best is when their line runs through refrigeration.  I think it is high time we Americans banded together and demanded fair treatment.  I can get the little 8 ounce glass bottles, but they aren't readily available.  Or, I can drive a little ways to get a 355 ml glass bottle that says "refresco" on it.  I always drive to the distribution center and get 2 cases of the little glass bottles for the state fair.  Problem is, everybody likes it and it's gone within two days.  Then i have to go back to those God-forsaken cans.  Rise up America!  Demand better!  Give us our glass bottles back!

To make this very short -- I wish to heaven that not getting 12 oz glass bottles was the ONLY thing wrong with our current state in this country. I see very little RIGHT any more, we flat out have a stupid president, and I could care less what race he is -- he is still stupid -- or worse, smarter than any one else believes and will soon just flat take over! There ya have it

Ole borock made a heck of a shuck and jive speech yesterday. Big ole grin......floating across the stage. beautiful photos taken.........high school girls swooning over him. However.......even msnbc didn't have a clue what he said. Campaign speech.....for low information and socialist voters.

if someone wants something besides what they are complaining about, make it.

like regular soft drinks in a glass bottle.

interestingly, one can easily find coke in bottles at mexican restaurants and grocery stores with cane sugar to boot instead of high fructose corn syrup.

I see. Yes I agree. Isn't that what made Anerica in the first place? Build it and they will come type stuff.

yup.  and if we don't, we let it fail, rather than subsidize it.

Sorry some of you took this so seriously.  Sometimes late in the afternoon I need a diversion to help relax.  I read a blurb about the 2 new Coke offerings and just took it from there.  I realize there are far more serious problems in the world than my Coca Cola bottles.  I don't have much good to say about any politician.  I do make a special effort to get the Coca Cola I want.  And I'm looking forward to the state fair when I can sit down with my family and friends and enjoy one....in a glass bottle.  Stop by the stalls and have one if you're in Des Moines next month.

I rant all the time. It's good for you

I rant every time I hit the grocery store. I'm in Ohio. Why in the hell do I need grapes from Chile when it's winter there? How fresh are these? Bananas from Honduras. Blue errors from New Hampshire. On and on and on. How much fuel was burnt moving this crap? How come local grocery stores can't get more locally grown food? Where did all the real food go? The more and more I'm around the Amish, the more I'd like to join em. The whole religion deal and those itchy clothes keeps me away. Oh and no electric. I still may move up betwix a bunch of families and eat good.  <cowboy> 8)

I don't even live in the USA but am close enough to watch what is happening. I could not agree more! And I also agree this has absolutely nothing to do with color, race or religion. I'm thinking your President is the lamest you have had in recent memory. The sad part of this is that the chance of anything changing gets smaller every day. When you have more people relying on government payments to live, than those who actually contribute to the economy, that can vote, it is only going to get harder to have change. I read that there are now 11 states that have more people collecting government assistance than those who don't, and some of these states have the largest populations. If this is indeed true, I wonder how long this can continue to go on. This is indeed a serious state of affairs.
I also worry about this.... as what happens in your country will also affect most of the free world evenually.

I am really beginning to think that all politics is .... is show business for ugly people!

Back to the topic... I agreed 100% with oakview about the GLASS bottles of Coke. If this is what the consumer demands why don't they provide it?  I also agree that Coke out of a glass bottle , tastes better than Coke from a plastic bottle or metal can. This is another simple pleasure in life that corporate Coca Cola has screwed with and got totally wrong!

An old timer told me they always used coke to get rust off of stuff. This true? He said it would shine up the plow and the dirt rolled right off it.

I've heard the same thing. I've also heard you can put a penny in some and it will eventually erode away. Doesn't matter to me , that is one vice that I would be very hard pressed to give up. If I can't get Coke , I would rather have RC Cola  than a Pepsi.

my computer doctor was saying that he has a contract to maintain all the computers for a major company in Western Canada. He said he has had over 20 laptops sent in that have had Coke or Pepsi spilled on the keyboards. He said every laptop that had Pepsi spilled on it, has been totally fried and it has been cheaper to replace the entire laptop than try to repair it. Of the ones that had Coke spilled on them, they all were repaired simply by taking the keyboards apart and using a cloth to remove the Coke residue. He does not know what the difference is unless it is the amount of sugar in each.
I spilled a few drops ( and only a few drops) of coffee on my laptop keyboard and it was toast. It was a nice $1200 lesson as I had only had it for 5 months. And I do not put sugar in my coffee either. I don't understand why it doesn't like a coffee as much as I do, especially first thing in the morning!
