We're about 1/3 done w/ wheat. We grow soft red winter wheat here in Ohio. Yields have been terrible. Worst so far was 30 bushles & the best about 60. Hubby said we had a lots of areas drown out early. Plus there wasn't a lot of snow cover this winter. That hurts the yields.
Looking like rain, so crossing my fingers.

Worst year ever I run two country elevaters in the highest producing county in the state and I havent taken 10% . Most of the wheat is down and sprouting in the head. So it makes it unsalvageable. Owell it will be better next year.  roni

Belive it or not Red on our side of county the wheat has been too wet lately to get out. It is all over the board, 16 to 20 test. They are hitting some and leaving others. Crossing my fingers for some straw.

Roni- there is nothing worse than sprouted wheat! I was a grain grader for over 12 years. The worst times were during sprouted wheat. Make sure you have good graders, I've seen elveators take in sprouted wheat & not discount & then get slammed when they try to ship it.

OH B- we got about .5" over the last 2 days. Stoped wheat harvest but not complaining.

Her in nw kansas we are actually dry. 3 inches below average. On our 3000 acres worst field was 43 and best was 69 bushel and acre. The best wheat crop since 7 years ago. I don't know if drought over or not but I think so. We missed all the hellish flooding and rain that eastern kansas had. There are alot of farmers healed up financially because of yeild and price here.
