Which ANGUS for PB Char heifer sired by Firewater?

Who would you use?  I'm thinking OCC -bred but not familiar with angus.  Looked also at Duff Hobart, Connealy Confidence, and looked at some of the Dameron and Lutton bred but not sure if calving ease is on them is an issue for a heifer.

Female is very sound, very thick Firewater heifer with strong maternal background.  Goal is daughter that could be used for club calf production.  Perhaps WHO MADE WHO or DR. WHO would be better choices, I don't know.

What are your thoughts?

Willing to pay a little more for rare or hard to find or sexed.

JESSE JAMES has worked well on X -CHAROLAIS heifers for us as far as clubby .....We use various Charolais bulls and don't have any problems calving them ....I'M NOT  SURE IF Hobart is a calving ease bull but I sure like his breeding ....BC LOOKOUT  is a very good choice for females  and a good bull ,
not sure he is calving ease and semen might be scarce ....

I would not recommend BC Lookout on heifers.  He's not a calving ease sire.  Especially on a Charolais.  FWIW I have been disappointed in the feet on Lookout progeny anyway.

I haven't tried this Lookout son because I have a Lookout son I raised that does a great job, but you might check out Sedgwick's Outlaw -- http://www.mccurrybrothers.com/herdsires/538w.html

His calving ease is +17 with .48 accuracy, so would gamble that he is pretty safe.  My Lookout son sires calves that shoot out like BB's, bounce and roll once and get to nursing within 15 minutes.

Yup, my bad. I was looking at a catalog with a lot of cows bred to BC Lookout while reading the thread. Was thinking Barstow Cash, and typed BC Lookout.

Gotta love the softness in the pasterns on that bull's dam.  Is the bull that way too?  How are his feet?

Wow, that is a pretty heifer. If you want to show the calf why not use something like Moto Moto, even if he's not Angus? You'll get a stout smoky colored calf with about 2" of hair. It would be cool, guaranteed.

I would look at VIN-MAR O'Reilly Factor for an Angus.  She should be able to handle a bull alitle above 0 on birth weight on the angus summary and this bullhas as much power as you can get in calving ease Angus.
If it we me I would be looking at a purebred calving ease charolais bull like  Wrangler or LT Ledger.  These two bulls well well on firewater breeding and the calf of either sex would be very marketable.

He was really flexible on his pasterns and had a huge foot size under them. That was one of the things I loved about him.

I was really hoping Tyler from Mill Iron A livestock would pipe in on this thread.  I think he is one of the masters in crossing Char influenced cows to Angus.  He uses Red Angus bulls and lately has been using a red angus bull named TJS Dinero Z012 registration #1555558.  Calves are crazy good.  Almost always get a white, yellow, orange and occasionally red calf.

I appreciate that Ryan, Dinero works very well and he is shaped right but unfortunately with his bw I wouldn't recommend him on charolais heifers. We have had good success with Moto Moto and a Northern Improvement son called New and Improved. I do think that you are better off going red, its hard to tell in that picture but if here hind leg isn't too straight I would look at X-files from solution genetics or potentially red global trust 21t.

My dad used Confidence last year.... he said you can sleep at night and watch them grow... all between 65 and 72lbs at birth and 750 to 890 at weaning on about 70 calves.
