Which Blower is best?

What are the differences between the Circuiteer II and Sullivan's Air Express III blowers? Is there anything that anybody specifically likes AND dislikes about either of these. Being they are so expensive I want to make sure I buy the right one.

We have a Air Express III and love it.  We are fairly new to showing and have only used this blower so I really can not answer your question.  I will say though I haven't seen any of the other blowers at teh shows I have been at.  Smaller local shows.

We have both types.  In my opinion they push about the same amount of air (the "aerodynamic nose cone" on the sullivans does not let any more air in the hose than the flat one on the circuiteer II) and I would speculate that the motors are almost identical.  We have 2 sullivans set up as a double and then the circuiteer II as a stand alone.  The circuiteer II seems to have a thinner metal for the body tube and the switches are not as heavy duty.  If price is identical, would go with the Sullivan.  However, if there was a bargain on the circuiteer II I would jump on it.

A buddy of mine became a Circuiteer dealer and we talked to the guy at the company that makes them. The nose cone and the filter are the only differences between the two. Sullivan's use to sell the circuiteer but decided they were going to "design" their own. They put the cone on the front and a easily removable filter on it and thats it. The motors are the exact same. And I know the circuiteers that I can get are a lot cheaper than the air express. Thats what I know hope it helps.

Get a boss blower. They are from Lousiana and are WAY better than the Sullivan blowers. They also have one called the boss magnum which is two blowers. We have both a Sullivan double blower and a boss magnum and the boss is a 100x better. They cost a little more but we love it.

In regards to your question a Sullivan is better. (But I'd look into a boss)

I have a boss magnum ,I don't like it as well as my Sullivan blowers,,would love to sell it and buy another set of air express  .  only positive I have is its easier to haul than a Sullivan blower,,,but doesn't put out near the air.  I would say the boss double is comparable to a Sullivan single

Circuiteer, Sullivan's and a number of the other show supply dealers that build their own blower all use the same motors.  Sullivan's adds a small heating element, everybody uses different filters, cones, hoses, nozzles, etc... that accounts for the pretty negligible differences in cfm they put out. Buy the one you can get the best deal on.

I have a boss pro and used to have an air express III. Boss pulls to many amps (17-21) so flips breakers but air velocity is 30% + better than the AE3. retired it to the barn. AE3 had issues from the get go, out the box only one switch worked, then after 3 months hose started separating, and finally after 6 months motor blew. Now Sullivans fixed every thing but what a hassle. Sold it and bought a double from Ringer Brothers. Need I say sweet!!

I have a year old Boss and an old, badly abused Sullivans.  I have tried to convince myself the Boss was worth it.  Running both side by side the Sullivans has a bit more force.  Enough to tell a difference.  The hose on the Boss is pretty light and too plasticky.  Supposedly they had a problem with them and it can be replaced but I haven't followed through with that yet.

To me there is definitely not enough difference to warrant paying the higher price.

I bought a used circuiteer II when I first started showing almost 20 years ago and I still use it as my main blower. It was a refurbished one from Sullivan's.

They all will get the job done, wheathrr it's a Sullivan's, circuitteer, Hamm's blowout, or a Boss. It all basically comes down to preference. We love our boss.

When we started out we bought two used blowers from Sullivan's  (one was a circuitteer) and upgrade a few years later. It's all up to how much you want to spend. They all blow about the same.

I will also say there will be some differances within the same brand.  Last year we bought two double set ups from sullivans.  One blue set and one black set and the blue set blows harder.  Not sure why but it blows harder.

Some motors are just better than others.  I mostly run Blue Ribbon's blowers, but I've been around enough of 'em of all brands to know that you get better and worse ones within a brand.  I have friends that swear their undying loyalty to a particular brand because they've got one that puts out better than average air and never gives 'em a problem, and/or they had another brand that never worked right.  Just like pickups or anything else.

Are there any advantages of the removable filter or is it just another useless feature?

As you can tell I'm new to this product. Is heating a widely used feature? And is there an advantage of one filter over another?

I like the boss magnum better one because the filter is in an area where it can't get wet. It works great in our wash room, no wet filters or motors.
The whole system is completely enclosed and sealed unlike a Sullivan double where you have a "y" either with a hose or metal y.

With a Sullivan double you have a much thicker hose. With the magnum it is the same thickness as a regular Sullivan hose.

We can cut our drying time in almost half with the magnum compared to the Sullivan.

The complaint I have with the magnum is you have to have drop cords. They only have a cord about 1' in length. Oh and the price is around 1,100 with a hose. A double Sullivan is around 1,000 . We thought it was worth it.

Not trying to start a argument over brands, this is just my experience and opinion

Don't over think it. Both brands (probably all 3, however I've not had any experience with the boss) are good. Both will wear yours and your kids's arms out. Parts are easy to get, and they're both reputable. If you want a 2 blower system, buy 1 of each, then you'll know. None of them do a great job at 10 degrees; we all know that personally. We have 4 Sullivan's, on double blower systems, and the kids still complain on cool and damp days that the calves don't get dry quick enough.
