Sounds like you do about the same as me. With those backrounds sounds like your going to want 2-3 different bulls to do the job. On Simm, angus, char, and maine I really like sunseeker calves. The best heifers I have that I kept are Ground Zero, Sunseeker, and Lucky break. The lucky break heifers are not the cleanest looking, soggy front but the calves on them out of a purebred angus are great calves. Grow great and look really clean. This year we used Hooks shear force and Grizzly on our heifers and can't wait to see calves coming in early march. So far the calves we already have that look the best for showing and mothers are the sunseekers. We bred to my turn this year that we got the best sunseekers out of in the past and then I bred the cows that are out of those cows to sunseeker. This years calves on the ground I have a great eyes on the money heifer that I will prob keep, also a great sunseeker out of a blue roan cow, and a great money shot as well. All of them look like they are going to be great in the show ring and replacements. It's tough picking a clubbie bull that will be great in both show and good in the feedlot and heard. I can tell you that all of the bulls that are at Hawkeye breeders Sunseeker is my #1 pick as a mature bull, #2 Aberdeen, and #3 money shot. There is a shorthorn there as well that is good but I can remember which one. Those 4 bulls are the only bulls with a big frame and what I want my replacements to look like. Many of the rest are just too small framed for my liking. Also at Nichols in Ankeny the bull I thought that was the best mature bull is a Blue roan bull, but I couldnt read the tag on him. Not sure if it may be Blue Blood.
