I'm looking for some info, and experiences with white Shorthorn bulls...  We have our blue roan goals for the year taken care of, and in case they don't work out, then I'll be looking for somebody to make blue roans with- on a variety of black cows.  I would prefer not the hear the name Gus 80c, or Sin City mentioned.  Lets move to different pastures...  I want to think outside the box on this one...  I know the owners of both bulls are on here, and I'm not downgrading either bull...  I just don't want everybody talking about them, and not saying anything about the bulls I want to know about...

Input on these or additional bulls is requested... Besides the two (Gus & Sin City)

Adrenaline
Casper
Notorious
Roanoke Flashback
Okie Dokie
High Roller
Vegas
or any others

Thanks

I have also talked to the A/T clan about their new bull Rock n R Train...  I like pieces of him, but his frame size concerns me a bit... Since our black cattle are moderate to average in frame scores.. And I don't want to down size them anymore...

Both Vegas and High Roller are full sibs to Sin City.  High Roller is TH and PHA free if memory serves me correctly.

Regarding JPJ, it probably doesn't matter to you but I'm guessing there are noticeably more unregistered offspring than there are registered.  In my experience, his daughters make very nice cows, though some of them may be too small framed to suit some folks.

Stu, I did see your calf while searching around...  He is pretty neat made, IMO...  Only problem is that we just bought a new bull- and with as few cows that we have, it's just not justifiable having 2 bulls around.  I tell you what, you keep him, and we'll be interested in buying some semen to use!! (lol)

Did you ever get that old white cow moved?  She's a pretty good ole rip!

I did  not mention our white Irish Mist son as we only have semen available in Canada. He is the easiest calving sire we have ever used. He also has the shortest gestation length I have ever seen in a Shorthorn which is why he calves so easily. His calves are moderate framed and thick, and several of his sons are working in commercial herds. His daughters are moderate, with excellent udders and extremely fertile. We sold a set of heifers to Texas this fall and the group included some of his daughters. He is also the most moderate easy fleshing full Irish bull I have ever seen. After using him for 4 years on our heifers, we sold him to a commercial herd, as we were keeping too many of his daughters. In four years, we assisted 2 heifers calve, one with a malpresentation and another that was a convenience pull.

Just a word of advice. i would not take the ASA registry as a measure of a bulls success. I know quiet a few herds that have shorthorns in them but refuse to deal with the ASA. There are quiet a few folks in my area that have fullblood cows but refuse to register anything with the ASA. For some folks who have a lot of cows purchasing semen certificates on offspring in addition to other cost is just not worth it. I would rather look at offspring than a database.

Roanoke Flashback is a direct son of TPS Coronet Leader 21st. IF you go to bull hall of fame you can see pics of him. Or attached is a pic of TPS Leader 21st. He was a 1960 model. Was not small by any means in a day of "little cattle". I have not used Roanoke but do like the females that 21st puts out.Doc and JIT both have females that are direct out of 21st.
Vegas and High Roller as said previously are full brothers. They don't breed a like at all. If you look at most of Sullivan's winning appendix females they are Vegas x Stockman.
WORDS 4W CASPER were thinking of? if so he has quiet a few progeny out there.

Haven't been on here in a while, daughter got married, so much to do.
I don't know if you are opposed to anything in the Sin City bloodline but we have had much success with our pb white shorthorn bull Tommy Boy. He's Sin City and KaBa Legend. Makes amazing calves and lots of blue roans. Great temperament that passes down, easy calving weights, tons of hair!!!
He won Grand Champ Shorthorn Bull at Colorado State Fair when he was 5 months old and although we haven't shown him a lot he's done considerable well. We had a full brother to him that we steered and my daughter is showing this year. Thick, extremely hairy and the best temperament ever.
Folks talk about getting outside the box, well let's see what you think.
