bing

was probably responsible for the development timing of the consumer videotape machine more than anyone.  he wanted to tape AND edit his shows for television. he invested in a company my neighbor worked for, ampex.  they made video for tv and it turned into a military contract with the government to get tape of bombing missioins in vietnam which my neighbor worked on to develope a smaller videorecorder.  it was subsequently sold to a company in japan.  my neighbor worked on minatureization of moving components.  this is why he is so good at making 1/8 scale WWII aircraft beyond scale.  bing also developed something to help his voice sound better on the radio which i think he received the patents for.  this guy was an entrepeunurial genius.  he lived next door to one of my roomates in college and was well respected in the neighborhood.

bing was also heavily involved in supporting the troops.

hollywood sure has come a long way since then
