oh they can hurt...my dad (a fastball ump and catcher for a billion years) has had hundreds of bruises to prove it.  And my boyfriend has fresh one...but I don't suppose he would want me taking a picture to prove it ;D

basques are notorius for their sheepherding skills.  they are directly imported (i know that sounds funny) with a specific skill visa to herd sheep in california out in remote ranges.  you can read about them once in a while in a magazine called "range" and other places obviously.

Basques are some of the most talented sheep and cattle trainers in the world......Many of the remaining sheep ranches in Wyoming and western Colorado still get special Visas to bring Basque herders in .....  Have seen them in action and wanted like anything to speak Portuguese so that I could talk to them!
