OK, I have a question...can heifers leave Saturday after the show, or do they have to stay for Sunday steer show?  I've looked everywhere and can't find that info.  I'm wanting to know so I don't overbook hotel rooms.

Anyone here going??? This is the 1st year we are going and I'd love to meet more of you!  We are taking a July 1,2011 heifer (She's a Majors Boom Box x Majors Delilah  (3/4 sib to our Mucho Dinero bull)  She's a pb maine. 

I've tried the bacon grease...I think it would work, but between my corgis and the other heifers licking it off and liking the taste, it seemed like I was applying it constantly lol.  Silly dogs keep lying with the heifer licking her its hilarious

Consider Major's Money Man....he is heifer safe, he's a PB, and has stood the test of time.  I think just from bloodlines it might work, granted, I haven't seen her.  If she is pretty straight on her hind wheels, then no, but I've had tremendous luck with him

It's really killing those of us in Missouri on the Iowa line...I can't even take calves to the vet 25 miles away without a DOT#, health card ect.  It's rediculous!  Its hard to find a good large animal vet and we have one but he's over the Iowa line.  We've even changed the sale barn we have...

Did you like the Driver heifers?  I have 5 here and man I really like them.  Seen a bunch of them so far this year and was quiet impressed with them.  Didn't get to see these because this sale is usually out of my price range, but was wondering what you all thought of them

Thanks Simmiman!  She is 1/2 simmi, she's out of the Driver bull.  I have 6 Drivers and LOVE them.  Hopefully they will make some nice show heifers and greater replacement heifers.  We have Maine-tainer papers on her and the others so were pretty excited

I found with new calves though, to gradually build it up to full strength

I have some really nice Maine-Tainer heifers out of the simmi bull Driver availible.  I purchased them from Major's Maines when they dispersed this summer.  Here is an example of one of them.  They are extremely hairy heifers, and Driver heifers are hard to come by.  I'm located in NW Missouri

been there showed there...lol  we started at noon and let me tell ya it was such a LONG drawn out day.  My kids were so tired along with heifers, I didn't get to see who won.

I'm a Maine breeder and that's all I breed with.  If the heifer isn't to straight on the back legs, I'd use Majors Money Man.  I've used him a lot, and find he's been the most useful reliable heifer bull I've used.  I've sold bulls, heifers, and steers out of him.  I like him so much my herd...
