CAB ...cabin...we have a lot of good times there

thanks CAB!  The cabin is the hubs hunting cabin/dog house or guest house all rolled into one.  Sits in the middle of the farm.  It's only about 20 yrs old.  The lady we bought the farm from used to lease hunting rights out on the farm and this is where the guys stayed.

Reached the point that we have more black and blue than red...finally convinced the hubs it was time to go back to a Shorthorn bull so we are looking for one this spring and I’m pretty excited about it!  My purebreds are getting some age on them!  I did purchase some heifers from E6 and Winters...

Excuse the mud...February weather has been nuts...calves born fall 2017...by herd bull Fred ...had twice as many heifers as bulls, wish I could talk hubs into keeping them all for replacements 😃

I have a daughter that has had 4 calves all unassisted, actually I have yet to see one born...they have all been up nursing and running around in the pasture when we find them.  Ive kept 2 of her daughters and they will have first calves this coming fall.  I have some semen that I am going to...

the biggest error this rookie made was not crossbreeding these shorthorns sooner...if that's wrong...I don't want to be right... I save all that eloquent academia talk for my day job mark :) (3 of those blues go back to occ legend, whole herd 100% unassisted live calf crop past 3 years, btw)

thanks mark...the whole herd is getting the mac Frederick bull...he's 60% angus, rest maine...had to come up with a new bull this year, we had used the purebred angus for 3 years and his daughters are ready to breed...im excited about him and think he will work nicely on the heifers...after they...

the blacks and blues are half angus half shorthorn ...ill end up with 7 or 8 when its all said and done, not sure how many ill keep this year...love love love this cross!  every calf the past 3 years has been born unassisted!  100% live calf crop! its been super easy! (knock on wood)
