    My heifer"Lily"

She is a very nice heifer! She looks a lot like the heifers we raise and turn into cows. We breed them to Angus bull, and get really nice calves. If you are just wanting to show on a "county fair" basis, then i would suggest and Angus bull. She would fit in very nice in our herd ;)

    Keller's Club calf Sale

I havn't seen them in person, but they look really nice on the website. Both their heifers and steers look deep bodied and solid.

    Tornados hitting Nebraska Tonight!

Yeah, we got REALLY lucky last night, we missed most of the stuff, just some wind and rain. The Kearney Fairgrounds is flat, the entire building is just a pile of rubble, the only thing that was left was the cement stands inside. Wasn't a good deal, hope everyone is ok.

    Jewel...country music?

I really don't know. I think her music IS country, but it is a different kind of country that most of us are used to.

how is planting going this year

Well we at least got all our corn in. Last night we got a little over an inch of rain, after getting half a pivot of beans done.

    Pour on wormer

We use Ivormectin. It has worked well for the most part, sometime we pour our show steers twice to prevent worms further.

    Highlander

I really like the looks of the bull. As far as frame scores and such, there are people at our county fair that show a few of them each year. They are small framed, but seem to have a good disposition.

Off Topic: Using a box blade on long driveways.

We just recently bought one, and we love it. It works great on anything from dirt on field drive ways, to the gravel on the drive, to the crap and mud in the lots. It was one of the better things we have gotten. But, there is another route. If you have a little tractor, you can get a 3 pt. blade...

    Cattle calm paste

We use the cattle calm at our fair for the most part. It seems to work well for us, it doesn't make them "sleepy" or groggy at all. We also use ACE. You have to be careful with the stuff though. Although we have never seen a calf die from it, I lost a showmanship class because my steer got a...

    my new plan

We keep our show steers in our barn during the summer. We have 2 Sullivan Turbo fans that we run constantly. This seems to keep them pretty cool, we keep the east and west doors open during the time of day when the sun is at the opposite side of the barn (if that makes sense). We also wash them...

    have you see calves by....

I watched Connealy's sale a couple weeks back, and i was not impressed with the Gambles Hot Rod calves. They are a "showier" type of Angus. They did not sell well at all, i wouldnt use him. Just my take on him. As for the others, i havnt seen any off them yet. Hope this helps!

    $7 Corn

The corn market has gotten REALLY inflated. It has hurt the overall effect of our economy. Sure, it is GREAT for us farmers, but it has caused millions of dollars to be put into ethanol plants, and then it turns out that they cant afford to buy corn to run. It is just a mess.... My thoughts...

    Opinions on our new bulls

He has very good #'s, and at the sale, we didnt get a chance to look at them the day before, and the day of the sale they were in pens with deep straw. and in the ring he didnt look bad, but we got him home and he looked horrible.

    Opinions on our new bulls

I wish these pictures better represented the bulls. That first bulls hip is a world better in person. If you would like EPDs or other information you can message me. Thanks

    Opinions on our new bulls

justintime, the heifer bull (#2) was selected based on genetics mostly. He comes from a very low birth weight line on both the sire and dam side. This was what we mainly used as a selection. He is a little straighter fronted than the other bull. To be honest, we are not planning on using bull #3...
