    For my fellow Hereford fans!

Thanks everyone! We weren't very excited about the snow either CAB! It rained pretty much all summer so there is lots of crop still in the field. Between the declining cattle prices and tough harvest most of the farmers around here are feeling pretty down. On the upside (or maybe downside) the...

    For my fellow Hereford fans!

Here's an updated picture of my heifer. I have decided not to show anything this fall so she isn't all cleaned up but I'm really happy with how she's developing. We call her the "gets fat on snowballs" type.

    Genetics for Generations Hereford Sale

Myself (Barefoot Polled Herefords), along with NCX & Glenrose Polled Herefords are very excited to be hosting Genetics for Generations on October 9 in Vegreville, Alberta. This will be the first sale that we've hosted together and the cool part is that all of my calves are sired by the very...

    PB Hereford Steer

I appreciate the comments! The big guy was butchered last week and our butcher (who is not afraid to speak her mind- good or bad) said that she was extremely impressed with the beef so I can't wait to see how it tastes. Gargan I think he looks like he'd make a really nice steer- he's a showy...

Hereford heifer what u think ?

It looks to me like she has a lot of potential. She's marked right and appears to be sound which is important because those are the things that you can't change. She is certainly young and very green but if you get her on a good developing ration right away and give yourself a bit of time before...

The quiet ones are more fun!

My coworkers talked me into bringing two heifers to put on our parade float this past weekend. The heifers loved all of the extra attention and the kids and their families seemed to really like seeing something a little less traditional at the parade.

    PB Hereford Steer

Just thought I'd post some final pictures for anyone following this post. We didn't quite get it done but he was Reserve Champion Straight Bred at our junior national show.

    For my fellow Hereford fans!

Thanks for the comments! I think she'll be fun to haul around and most importantly she's bred to be a really good cow. Cebwtx: Nice bull, I agree that they have a really smiliar look to them!

    For my fellow Hereford fans!

What do you think of this one? She's a March heifer that was purchased in dam from Blair Athol Polled Herefords last fall. Her dam is a Blair Athol Classic daughter and she's sired by an NJW bull who is a maternal brother to Trust, Hometown and Downhome. She was second in class at our Canadian...

    Fair time stories

At one of the very first junior shows that I attended there was a long fire hose hooked up to the wall so kids didn't have to carry water buckets very far. The hose seemed like a good idea until one of the younger kids got ahold of it and eventually had everyone cornered in the far side of the...

    My First Ever Bull Purchase

It's been a while since I updated this post so I thought I'd put up some more pictures of Clyde and his first calf crop. I am really happy that I took a chance on this guy and bought him. 1st picture: Clyde in November 2015 2nd: Slicked out cell phone picture in April 3rd: Front view in May

What do you think of the website I made?

I recently updated my website so I thought that I would share the new and improved version with you guys. I agreed with all of the suggestions that were made so I was able to incorporate those changes into the new version. I also chose to pay wix to upgrade my site to get rid of the ads which I...

Slick cattle and haired cattle pix

Good post, thanks to rrblack78 and blackdirt cowboy for the photos so far. I'm also interested to see the slick and haired pictures because we don't have slick shows in Canada so it's not something I'm familar with either.

    PB Hereford Steer

Thanks for the comments! We went to our first show on the weekend so I thought I'd post an update. My steer placed second against six club calves in his junior show class.  He didn't place in the open show but I am happy with how he looked and how he's coming along. He's thickened up a lot since...

    2 weeks until first show

She looks like a really balanced and complete heifer- the kind that will show well and then make a good cow. Good luck with her!

What do you think of our 2012 herd sire?

I thought I'd update this post for anyone following it. Below is a picture of You Tube taken in January 2016 at Standard Hill Livestock and two of his first daughters to come into production at NCX Polled Herefords.
