I don't usually do the whole steer thing but some friends had this guy for sale and the price was right so I decided to try and have some fun with him. He was born mid February and our target show will be the Canadian Hereford Junior Nationals at the beginning of August. I hope to jackpot him at least once or twice before then and he may end up at Calgary for the Stampede if he looks the part. He's already looking to be a lot better steer than I originally thought he was. I don't have a current weight on him.
1st picture is the picture that I bought him off. This is in September before he was weened.
2nd picture is after a rough clip job and one month on feed.
3rd & 4th are of him now after two months on feed.
So what do you steer guys think? I think he might have a shot if he was only competing against other Herefords but most of our shows are by weight instead of breed so I'm curious as to how he'll look beside the clubbies and crossbreds.
