Depends of the heifer. If shes a big girl, jpj; more moderate, northern improvement. If I were a SH person, possibly JPJ b/c the calf will be a higher % (over 1/2).

Of the three, I would use Bettis. I don't know the mating would hit a home run, but the buyer could feel very confident that she would be able to have the calf. IMO he's going to help you on rib; I see him as a maternal CE bull; not going to always make a showcalf but a really nice cow prospect...

Our embryologist has always advised us to breed them on their 2nd heat after flushing. I think you can get her bred, but it will be a few weeks later than you are hoping for. It's healthy for her body to get pregnant and have a baby, so I don't think you'd be working her too hard.

I'm going to agree with BS on this. Do your homework before you go sticking clubby up your cow. If it misses, the calf is going be sorry. Probably worse than your natural bred cows. There is no easier way for your dad to decide that AI is not for him, or you, is for that first calf to be sorry...

The key is to pull the top hairs up and use a hairclip to hold them out of the way. Mold the rest of the hair into that teardrop shape with a fair bit of glue. You need to be hands on with it. Don't be afraid to get sticky. Get it looking like you want it. After it's set, take the top hairs out...

I reccommend you find some good  Simmangus cross cows with a lot of belly, really sound complete cows. Breed them to the hotter clubby bulls and you should be off to a good start. Or breed them to a maternal Maine bull, keep their heifers, and breed those cattle to the clubby bulls. A lot of...
