    Help with a nervous showman

One thing for all of us to remember - this IS all about the KIDS!!! Case in point: Our oldest daughter is now 14 (God help us!).  When she was in 5th grade, after much coaxing from her parents that wanted to enjoy the limelight of having kids in sporting events, joined the softball team.  Now...

    Has anyone tried...........

Granted, most of the export to these countries is of the variety meat type.  But let us not forget that they also WANT ribs and chuck pieces.

    Has anyone tried...........

To really appreciate my idea of "premium", take a gander at our company steak sales on our website:  www.pmglobal.com People actually buy these things!!!  WOW!

    Has anyone tried...........

Well, I guess the "premium" is relative.  But, given the choice between importing dairy beef or fat blacks - the Japs only take the fat blacks.  To me then, they are paying a "premium". IMO - the getting sick from Kobe beef would be due to the MASSIVE amounts of FAT in that type of beef!!!

    Has anyone tried...........

If this Kobe beef is so wonderful, why are the Japs willing to pay a premium to import our lower quality beef??? I WONDER!?!?!?!

    Generator's

I have also been looking into purchasing a generator.  Here is what I have found. Blowers w/ the heat on will pull around 23 amps.  If you take the 23 amps X 120 volts = 2760 watts.  They require more to start up, but this can be minimized if you turn each fan and the heater on in slow...

    visiting IOWA

If you get here by the 14th you could check out the Clay County Fair.  Last year 319,000 attended this 9 day event.  This year it runs Sept 6-14.  They start the beef shows the 1st Saturday with 4h/FFA feeders and breeding heifers on Sunday.  The 13th & 14th are the open breed shows.  There are...

    HELP!!!

I should have mentioned this in my last reply...Last year we had a steer much the same.  The kicking stopped immediately after a hoof trimming.  The trimmer said that he had a touch of rot and needed a lot of timming.  Treating the rot accompanied by the soar tendons from the trimming took the...

    Which One???

I think it kinda depends on what your plans for them are.  I like the first heifers length and to me she looks like she will make an easy keeping broody cow.  I think that the second one has the look to spark a little more interest in the ring.  I also think that she will have a bit more rib...

    HELP!!!

Why give up on her if she is real GOOD?  We have an angus heifer this year that we tied up for the first time at 600 lbs.  She was tied three days that first week for two hours a time.  She spent the WHOLE time pulling back on the halter to the point of cutting of her air supply.  I mean she...

    Help Please with Implants

Here's something to think about with breeding heifers. I work as a procurement coordinator in a beef plant.  We do a natural program as well as a conventional fat cattle slaughter.  My fear links to the fact that implants tend to burn livers.  I'm not sure that anyone wants a potentially good...

How much would you pay for a show heifer/donor female

Hey, thanks Jill. My wife and I have agreed to this point that we will only show steers that we raise, but we will go out and buy some heifers to mix in.  We are in our 5th year in 4H with the kids, and bought our first $1000 heifers this year.  They happen to be Herfs, 'cause the kids wanted...

Here we go again!!! Winter isn't willing to give it up yet

Up here in the barron wasteland that is NW IA/SW MN, this crap goes through every 3-5 days.  The roads are covered with 1-4 inches of ice and the local hospital had 9 rollover accidents on Tues night. Please, show me some GREEN (angel)

    High school karma

OMG, you people REALLY give me a reason to keep coming back.  Not only have I found a forum where people actually are willing to support others, but I laugh my butt of most days as well. As far as the karma thing...karma, smarma.  I guess I'll just continue to hang out with my 4 real friends. ...

    20 million illegal aliens

knabe, please keep doing your part to "save" CA.  Those of us here in the heartland need you coasters to fight the good fight so we can stay under the radar and live the simple life. Wow, that sounds really stupid, it's gotta be campaign time.  I guess my mind is just cluttered by all the bs...

How about the top Hereford sire?

This last summer, our best black got it's butt whooped by a herf!  Truth be told, he should have.  This was the most complete county fair to come through our fair in some time.  I know, it's hard to believe since it's a herf, but to anyone who saw it there is no argument! My question is, what...

    Help make our steers clubby!

I wouldn't say that the cows are the problem as we have held back the most extended for replacements.  It just seems that there is a high percentage of the calves that are short in the front and rib.

    Help make our steers clubby!

Yeah, I've spent a number of hours looking into this "fun" that is the PHA/TH question one must now ask.  As we do not know the status of the herd, but we have never seen an abnormality.  I guess that by the law of averages, we could assume that the current bulls are not carriers.  Would have to...
