    Galant Semen

Not a lot of interest in the old Simmys any more unless they are Flecks, but there are still a few of us who will use bulls like Galant.  Recently talked to someone in Georgia who had some for sale @ $ 12.00

    Meyer Ranch 745

I will look through some of my old AI books and see what I can find.  I have a friend who has been looking for old Simmental genetics and seems to only talk to people after they throw out the older semen, so I'm sure he would be interested

Any thoughts on Red Simmental Bulls out there

Mark, you are correct on the birth weight for the Yankee bull.  I actually look more at the calving ease number if the accuracy is high enough as that gives a better idea of the calf's confirmation than birth weight.  I'll take the higher weight if it comes easy enough.  The old Siimy bull Eagle...

    Simmental coat patterns

In answer to the original question, YES there are still breeders using red and more traditional colored bulls.  I know a couple others besides myself that are looking for quality over color.  We sell yield and grade and freezer beef, so I can use the older genetics without getting discounted on...

    Anybody know?...

Just did a search for Simm and found your question.  He was through ABS, but I have not found a picture of him or his calves.  He was used enough to provide good accuracy for his breeding values which indicate you would have good replacements and being a Achilles Superstar son should mean some...

    What would you do??

I have kept a couple hiefers where the bull bred his mother.  The oldest calved last year and has a nice bull calf.  It promotes the good genetics as well as the issues, so as long as your using good stack; you should be OK

    Extra Black

If it is the same bull, we used him in '84 for our '85 calf crop.  He was a NBI bull and it it the same bull I may be able to find some semen for you.
