    My Turn Heifer's

What are the birth weights on these My Turn calves.  I've seen some pretty good ones out of Straight angus cows.

    What's everyone's favorite sire?

The ones that I have are really docile.  The heifer that we are showing this year is as tame as they come.  However, I had to work on one Net worth last winter and she was pretty waspy.  I would not use him on any EXT lines.  Use the temperment of the cow as an indicator.  If she has a bad...

    What's everyone's favorite sire?

I think he could help shorthorns out quite a bit.  The calves that I've seen have a ton of body and muscle. I see alot of shorthorns that look pretty hard.  He'd soften them up.  As far as growing without creep....I just got done looking at twelve Net Worths on pasture without creep and all...

    CRP coming out

If you get more cows make sure they are black.  You can take advantage of the black-hyded myth and generate more revenue! (lol)

    Genex Sexed Semen

Thanks for your response!  This year I've been right at 85% for getting cows settled.  I've mixed some of our old methodologies with some of Cowboy's suggestions and have seen an increase in cow activity which makes breeding on a natural heat a lot easier.  There are only a couple of cows that I...

    Genex Sexed Semen

I know when sexed semen first came out it was only recommended for heifers.  Is Genex Sexed semen suitable for cows?

    Lowline qualification question

I was looking at some cattle yesterday at one of my buddy's pastures and he had a pretty moderate angus heifer.  Not the itty bitty so called defect.  Just moderate.  If these were to be used with lowline genetics would they at most only be 1/2 blood lowlines if bred to a purebred Lowline bull? ...

    Dark Horse?

Shorthorngirl, I see what you are saying.  With those two bulls there is some give and take.  While Troubador had more power I thought that he also was carrying a little more shoulder.  Plus...he was a carrier.  That alone makes him unusable for me.  Style had the eye appeal but not the muscle...

    Dark Horse?

Style sure didn't look disappointing from behind at the National Junior Angus Show.  I wouldn't call him narrow.

    Dark Horse?

The darkhorse calves I've seen haven't impressed me all that much.  The cows that they were out of didn't impress me all that much either, so that could be a contributing factor.  I guess I just don't think that darkhorse is going to put enough volume in them. I used Style on a couple of...

    What's everyone's favorite sire?

I'm pretty high on SAV Net Worth.  He is a true changer.  I don't know if I've ever seen a bull work as well on an average cow as he does.  When you use him on the good ones....watch out!

    Road Warrior and public posts

RW, I like reading your posts as well.  I know when you post something I always read and try to gather a couple more nuggets of knowledge.  I hope you reconsider and continue posting.  I feel like I've learned so much from you.

    One Proud Father

Congrats!  I really like the way your heifer is made!

    Opinions on this Calf

Looks like a nice calf.  I'd keep feeding him and not worry too much about the class breaks.  If you want him in a lighter class shrink him down, don't withhold feed.

    Angus Question

I've never seen any calves out of him so I'm kind of making blind stabs.  His BW EPD is pretty high.  I know you say that his calves are born easily but that number probably scared quite a few people away.  One of the things that made 365 so popular is that he was easier calving than his sire. ...

    Angus Question

My guess is because a paternal brother named TC Stockman 365 was around and was very popular.  A lot of really good females were sired by him and he has also sired some influential bulls. Northern Improvement is a notable sire.

    want to by new fans

We use the showbarn fan for home and Turbo for shows.  I personally think that Turbo fans are annoying because of how loud they are.  I spend quite a bit of time in my showbarn and appreciate being able to hear my radio over the fans.
