I think Mark Mueller at DMCC uses them both interchangeably  so I have also... we have a bodybuilder steer as a prospect in the Jayhawk this weekend.. since his Dam was a purebred he can show as a maine

sounds good to me... I think you will be happiest keeping and producing heifers that YOU like... then search for customers that like the same kind... more fun than trying to produce what someone else might like ...that could change but what YOU like should be more obvious to you  ... you will...

I helped picture a heifer a few weeks ago that was not very powerful with chest width and not a powerful butt.. she profiled like this one ... in retrospect I think the one we were picturing was "piecey" some of the parts didn't quite match up  would like to see a rear shot  and front 3/4...

Don't know where you are but Kevin Denniston just had a sale yesterday  on breeders world and some really nice steers sold for less than 2500.. there are some left that would probably be for sale for less than 2000 for sure but it is unlikely you are going to buy someones best steer for market...

I think he will throw a deeper body than Yellow Jacket.. at least I hope so

I am going to give him a try  , clean , deep bodied , has good history recently... I am flushing a purebred maine to him... heifers outa that deal can show as Maines at 3/4

Thanks.. I think the buyers got some good value and we get the chance get to meet and work with  some new customers .. So far things have certainly gone well enough we would do it again next year.. I think these calves are nice enough that this years buyers and their friends will be watching us...

Thanks  that is probably closer to the correct grass color.. it hasn't frosted here yet and there is still some green this year probably about 6 hours here from Perry and I could probably bring her by on my way to Moms... I lived in Perry a few years ago
