    BPJV HOTLINE

I have had a little experience with hotline.  Seems like he will add some frame and will clean up a front end quick.  He will take away some rib and some fleshing ability.  They seem to milk average and work when crossed back on OCC genetics or something similar.  Shouldn't be a bad cross on a...

    Fall Calving Cows

Not sure where you are located, but in KY the fall calving herd has the opposite problem.  Cows are dry during the late spring and summer months when pasture is ample and the cows almost get too fat.  The calf on them during the winter months though will pull their BCS down quite a bit though...

    Clubby Angus.

NI made some very useful females.  He is a proven calving ease bull that will keep some style and power when used on clubby bred heifers.  They are moderate framed (not small), and milk well with good teat structure.  The structure of his calves have been excellent with the only problems being...

    JSF Capiche !!

Capiche was the moderate tank of the group.  Tons of muscle and more rib shape than most angus bulls.  He should be an excellent heifer bull that will mate up well with breeding type shorthorns to moderate and add fleshing ability.

    Conley bred angus bulls

Big Daddy is a +2.2 for Birth and a 5 for CE.  These numbers right now put him in a cow or heifers with caution category.  I am only using him on cows till I get more accuracy on him.  I would not really use the wide or massive argument against a heifer bull.  Legend is in no way narrow, and he...

Young Bull, What Do You Think?

I am curious, but looks as if you have changed the background the he was originally pictured in.  Not saying that you changed the calf at all, just that you imposed his pic onto a different background, am I correct?

    Conley bred angus bulls

Marathon is an excellent bull to breed to smaller, soggy, clean made females.  He can really power one up for an angus bull, but don't expect him to put a rocket front on them because he won't.  Lookout will put thickness and style.  Like Legend he will add body and flank and moderate frame. ...

    Camera for photography

I am not an expert with cameras, but did buy a Canon PowerShot S5IS last year.  Does anyone what lenses would work best with this camera to take excellent pictures?

Heifers in the Legends of the Fall Sale

I have two heifers consigned in the Legends of the Fall sale that Cane Ridge runs in Paris, KY.  We are just getting our program going but had a couple of heifers that really really stood out and Mac was gracious enough to let us put them in his sale.  The angus heifer is out of a Legend son and...

Cooperator herds---how do you compensate them?

I have tried a couple of different ways, but our current agreement has been the best that we have come up with so far.  I supply the embryos and that is all.  The cooperator herd pays all the other expenses.  I come through a couple of times in the summer and then at weaning I decide the calves...

    Health insurance

I am a full time farmer and did the same search for health insurance.  I found the best deal to be on the internet at ehealthinsurance.com  It has a ton of plans and something there for everyone.  Give it a look as it worked out well for me.

This will be an interesting Fall to see results of the Angus Production Sales!

I wonder if there is almost an indifference to Curly Calf on this site as the majority of breeders on here would consider themselves to put a pretty high emphasis on phenotype.  I think that most people would agree that 1680 cattle are not that impressive to look at.  Just look at the Gardiner...

    Combined curly calf info

This is one of those things that I think can be attributed to greed.  Not necessarily the bad kind, but instead of developing new lines of cattle that excel in carcass traits breeders just linebred the 1680 bull and anytime linebreeding occurs recessive traits such as this one are exaggerated. ...

Bulls that looked Good, but never turned em out

I remember a bull from 4-5 years ago name Smoke Rings.  The bull was supposedly at Denver and Columbus, but the stall was always empty when I was there.  I do remember he took a killer picture, but do not believe I saw one single calf out of him since.

    Birthmark cow

The 816B cow is what Tim has considered to be the ideal Angus cow for some time.  She is a B cow which would make her a mid 90's model.  With all the generations that have come since I am sure that they have cows now that are probably better than her.  I am curious if anyone else has any calves...

    No Red=Turmoil

I sure hope this website does not turn into a website where people cannot accept a little constructive criticism.  We teach the children to accept criticism every time they walk into the ring, because for the most part the judge is not going to give them nothing but praise for their project...
