Deerpark Improver 3rd, and Deerpark Improver have no genetic link. Only thing in common, they were both exported from Ireland and share space on a "Paper". Sadly we probably won't ever know how the Irish cattle fit together.

One consolation on these extremely large loineyes is, that consumers buying freezer beef directly off the farm prefer a leaner and higher ratio of the more expensive cuts. ie; @ $2.40 per lb. for a whole or half why wouldn't you want 20 inch eyes?

I would consider using a Lincoln Red bull if he was not Shorthorn Plus status. I believe it would be a better deal than the Red aNGUS thing. The Lincoln Reds I saw 30+ years ago at Pleasant Valley in Brandon Iowa were the real deal. They were just the wrong side of the road for the 70's-80's trend.

Jill, I only give the bull a third of the credit in the equation. I've had dramatic changes in birth weight, but they always seem to be bunched together. The only conclusion I can come up with is, plumeting temperature, and\or changes in feedstuff on\or about the beginning of third trimester.
