Now that everybody has put in their two cents, and that's all that some of it's worth, look at genetics.  Most people are just regurgitating what bull theyve heard sired a winner here or a high seller there.  Or who looked the best at Denver.  Few of these bulls are proven.  If you want to look at genetics, Naughty Pine on a Galloway or Galloway/Angus could give you another Eye Candy.  Why breed to Eye Candy when you could make another one or when you've already got Galloway in the equation.  The other option again is Heat Wave.  Without Heat Wave, we'd never have any of the rest.  Why use diluted genes when you can go back to the source.  You've obviously taken great care in your program already.  Why on earth would you base your breeding options on hype.

I like this idea a lot, and maybe I'm just being pessimistic when I think that trying to replicate would never work for me. I've seen too many full sibs that had too much difference to think that I could try and create a competitive yet similar alternate "eye candy". It's probably just the family curse of having a bunch of "almost good cattle"...

Heatwave might not be a bad choice. But I think there are sons that are much more consistent in the pattern they produce. I would also say that you are not diluting anything when you instead ad better more consistent genes through the outstanding dams of a few of these Heatwave sons. But I am not saying its a bad idea.

Are any of those dams not outcrosses to the heatweave line? If they're not, I don't see how they could be any more consistent in producing the heatwave look, than heatwave or even a double bred heatwave would.

Heat Wave was great and calves with the "Heat Wave Look" were great, but much like his sire Heat Seeker he was wildly inconsistent. You would get a short one, a tall one, all across the board and it even happen whenever you bred him to the same cow twice. Sons like Monopoly and Walks Alone have proven to through more consistency in their calves. Granted they dont pattern them necessarily like heat wave, but whenever you breed to them you have a good idea what you are going to get where as heat wave, some breeders often found themselves hoping for a good one out of heat wave. his good ones were great and his bad ones were found more than in the monopolys and walks alones. Go to Youtube to brad hook and watch his video about my turns first calving reports. he even talks about how wildly inconsistent heat wave and seeker were. but when you go so many people breeding so many cows to him in 12 years, there are going to be some great ones born

I think that Friction would work with this particular cow; she’s deep, big hipped, has a ton of length from hooks to pins, and smaller framed.  Friction stamps a consistent front end on them; they are clean and smooth and have that cocky look to them. The combination of your cow and Friction could produce a balanced calf with eye appeal, power, body and a decent size. I do not think hair will be an issue. Something like "Amen" would be nice.
