combine those two and that's almost exactly what we are doing. throw in some beet pulp with an oats and corn base and we have been doing pretty well.

Purple Bound Show Feeds by R&B Feeds and US Feeds.  The cost is great and the cattle LOVE it!

We feed purina here. Its not about what is the best as much as it is how you feed it. But I am in a barn that I see many different feeds fed, and purina seems to do the best job on steers and heifers. All the other feeds I see finish the animals way to fast, and don't offer enough protein. I am by no means a nutritionist( I am wanting to go to school to be one!) but this is what I  have seen.

We also use Kent Winning Fill - we love it- especially after weaning when they need to put on some bulk - we also make our own recipe with a corn base and some other stuff but still fall back alot on winnng fill as an supplement.  Really good for heifer guts. Puts a good deep body look into therm.

We use Grand 4 t fyer in our feed and I have found that for the money that it's the best we have found. I also use the Champion Drive for top dress and really like that.!!!!! What's really good is when you use the 4 t fyer you can make what ever you want in your feed.

We add Fast Track, chopped hay and beet pulp.  Depending on the animal we may add more rolled corn and oats

For fat steers, we sure like the Cattle Blaster and Barley Base Umbarger feeds. We'll usually mix those two together for steers.  We also add Beet Pulp and Sheen (by Showmaster) for added protein.

John, where do you find the purple bound feeds @ up in Wis.? We tried that feed this year & really think that it is good also & priced very reasonable. Calves love it. Didn't know how far out R&B Feeds had gotten out. For those of you that can get it, I highly recommend it. R&B Feeds out of Atlantic,Iowa.
