Reasonable for environment to have impact on scale but should have no bearing on composition.

//// You got that right-they have almost disappeared and I dont give a sh$%^&*()T about all the smug purists and their narrow cattle -badmouthing one like her-I had Hill Top -Marq 4 etc cattle somewhat like that and made some real good cows that won some shows out of Old time clubby bulls-Function is as function does Think her calves might be in demand LOL? Even the guys raising the Appearing Horns are going to re create them, the demand for a good one just goes through the roof-Days sale was a good example-he only had 3-and they blew up the place-AND I"m here to tell you-He has good ones-Shorthorns were some of the highest used cattle there were-when they looked like that Because they are the only cattle that put the pieces toghether like that And have allways been unique like that. The only real deal tested for everything on the planet bull thats got the performance heifer calving ease and stouts I know of now comes from one of the oldest documented performance herds in the US Dale Allison-Homeplace Farm - Homeplace Hot Commodity-Dale really changed those cattle in one shot with Wildside-A shot like that is what alot of the cattle need He was actually a good calver and changer never getting the credit he deserved-Thats him below at 6 years then AT 12- 13-STILL BREEDING COWS-Most impressive ancient bull IVE EVER SEEN Including ones in IRELAND-Dales Hot Commodity Bull has a Wildside dam. Who stopped me dead in my tracks as a calf-AND YES SHE CAN RAISE A CALF-in fact several In fact-there are 3 or more pacer dams in her pedigree going back 20 plus years AND BRED BY DALE More than any of the cattle Ive seen lately. The only place I can think of would be Toby Jordans cattle Jim Comptons Fresh Air: hands down- is the highest performing real world pretty fronted very sound grow bull I ve ever used (WDA FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS?) -Not a bad calver late maturing types but they outgrow everything-Needs a real thick cow for show-use him on any cow for GROW-His few Shorthorn calves out have won major shows O0jconner2088 said:Im telling ya that roan in the picture was the real deal, just happened to come at the wrong time for me to buy one or i would have been running at her hard. When we pulled into the pasture where she was i bout crapped myself, dont see very many shorthorn females like her anymore.
Great heifers out of impressive herdsires.-XBAR- said:First roan bull is Saskvalley Editor. 4287380. Bert Moore commented after seeing him that he thought he was the best bull Saskvalley had ever bred. I just finished up my first calf crop with him. The calves are excellent. Thick mid 80lb calves how they should be. Big buck like necks on them at a week old- definitely nothing like the rats you talk about. Definitely like what I see so far so Ill keep using him for sure.
The second bull is Diamond K Roan Ranger 4220114. Lot of old genetics there- be hard pressed to find a bull who goes back to leader 21 more times- check him out. I kept 8 of his heifers (attch pic) this past year and 1 bull I'll use myself some in the future. Xbar Gentry 4291970. Smoking good calf - one with the black nose I commented about. Saw Oakviews post awhile back about having a black nose bull in the past that never threw any black nose calves so Ive kept him and and we'll see. Maybe use him over the Editor and Leveldale Genesis spring '20 heifers next year.
Ill breed those Roan Ranger heifers to a dark roan Maestro son I raised- xbar festus 4283517. I sold half interest in this bull to Blair at Lushacres. Hes using him now. He had about 6 WHR bred bulls there couple bloodstones, a trump son, code red son, etc so given the priority he places on form, I suspect picking out Festus meant he had at least enough eye appeal to work with.
I like Dale's 1625 bull. Looks ideally sized and, most importantly, proportional- Any pics square on of his head? Show me that dead center whorl!
Look at the length of the muscling on that hindquarter!-XBAR- said:This bull thick enough for you mark
jconner2088 said:Mark i dig the red neck roan bull. I have been looking for one for some time. Good roan bulls are hard to come by now./// Dales got semen-And hes an outcross to a lot of cattle even the Oldschool ones-Theres a video of him going out with the cows at 13-Along with those pics O0
