Has anyone used Ace of Diamonds, or Simple Man I was wondering if anyone has had any calving issues with either of these bulls, or any problems in general.   I am going to breed one of them to a two year old registered limousin.  My breeder is from ABS so I am limited to bulls carried by them.   I want something to add width, I am trying to raise steers to sell as 4-H projects.   Any suggestions.

They say Ace of Diamonds will take the gut right out of a cow.
I've had the exact opposite experience, but that's just me.

X2, and after seeing some of the calves out of AOD, I would say they look plenty soggy.

I could be wrong, hopefully I am because I wouldn't mind using him. I did a search on here about a week ago and found a couple different threads where people said he would suck the gut out of him.

I think it depends on the cow-- I've seen about as many AoD calves get tubey.. as i have add body...

Thats a fair enough statement. I think if you look at the cow, and especially the way she comes out of that forerib, then it will be a good idea of what the calf will do with ace on the top side.

Well by the sounds of it maybe I will breed simple man to my limousin heifer she is a grand daughter of Blaque Rulon and she is a pretty nice looking heifer.  If anyone has an opinion on a direction they would go breeding a limousin heifer let me know.  I have about 6 bulls that I cant decide on.

Well, one thing is certain-Simple Man is a hiefer bull,Ace IS NOT.The people who put Ace  on the MAP-Vogels in Iowa-have 2 calving ease bulls that had hifers standing up at National Shows in thier 1st crop-MAV Charisma, and MAVBellriger-both are also heifer bulls, both go back to some good appendix, and personally,Ive seen some really good LIMO-Short,crosses-as they are absolutely little or no relation-not the case with a black bull. Well, maybe for a Simmi that's good, but from what little I have dealt with them, some of.those DO's can come pretty hard with a big head, big front end and tip the scales pretty heavy. Also, since when do epds tell an accurate story all the time? I will still say I80 is the only calving ease deal on that list.

Not picking any scabs, but how can I-80 be considered rock solid calving ease with one crop out there? I am asking.

We used Dream on ....on angus-simmi heifer I will let you know. But after talking to a lot of people about how he does consistently.... we went for it.  I will let you know how she turns out hopefully the next day or so.
