How much melatonin should be used?

Depends on the calf. Start by giving him 25 tablets in a bolus. If that doesn't work, give him 35....we had to end up giving a steer (not mine) 50 tabs before it had any effect, but he was pretty nervous.

It's a tranq. like Ace or thorzine.  Everyone says that thorzine is the best but it can knock them on their butt too.  I think the melatonin pills would be easier on the calf.  I don't use any of the tranquilizers.  If I don't think they will show I don't bring them.  Also, every now and then those tranquilizers make them go completely nuts!  I am always really cautious when I add bloodlines and disposition is one of the first thing I ask about when I make a purchase.

(cow)Seen a man us hocus pocus and sprayed it in the steers nose!  Guess it was like a dope head sniffing glue or spray paint.  The steer looked doped up, both head and ears were down, but the steer  was as calm as could be!
