The well wishes are appreciated  (thumbsup)

We really worked on stretching the calfs legs, neck & back this morning. Seemed to help his posture and balance. I keep seeing improvement so we will keep working on him. We are still on the 12 hours on, 12 hours off with the splints.

The cow is getting back to her old self as she landed a “HELL-O” kick on me this morning. Nothing serious, just her way of letting me know she doesn’t need me THAT close to her.

Propped calf up on a bale of hay and he nursed from the cow. She is amazing me how she is allowing us to work around her and the calf, she is an old show heifer that has always had a rips attitude.

Calf is starting to plane out on his improvements, I'm afraid we may be fighting a birth defect instead of tight tendons. When he tries to walk now he drops his head down between his legs. Stretching him helps but I just don't think it looks right. I got him up & moving tonight with the help of a shocker. He is just getting to heavy to keep lifting every time we work him. He is getting up on his own and moving around the barn during the day but I’m not here to tell if he is doing it up on all fours or not.

The calf took a pint and a half of the cows milk this morning. Tried the nursing bit with him somewhat standing with my aid and he just wasn’t interested. However if I nurse her out and put it in a bottle he is all about it. He is moving around more but still struggling with the front legs.

We have helped nurse some calves and my opinion is the more they get out of a bottle the more lazy they get and don't want to work for it from momma, its way too easy to have someone bring the meal to them.

Calf started getting up on his own yesterday.
He is still struggling with his balance but his posture is improving.
He’s drinking 2 pints of milk/milk replacer 3 times a day: 6a.m. 6p.m. 1a.m.

Calf is still on his mother. The past two days we have propped him up on a bale of straw to nurse. The calf is getting up and moving on his own but still doesn’t have the strength or coordination to nurse on the cow with out assistance.

The best way to describe him today is that he will be a week old Saturday 1:00 a.m. but he acts like he is only about 15 minutes old. If that makes any sense.
