Cow Savvy just comes natural for a Texas Longhorn steer! So, we thought we'd share a photo of this 3 year old working calves during his Team Penning lesson. Visit us at www.premierlonghorns.com/RidingLonghorns.html and you may never look at your own cattle in the same way again!  ;D

Would another cow or bull ever challenge him? That would make for an interesting ride.

Of course, that is always possible. However, there are some things to consider. In this instance, Premier All That Jazz is in a controlled environment & just a 3 yo kid himself who is learning the ropes but he also (from infancy) has been trained to be a "Leader" aka "Lead Steer" which fosters lots of self confidence so he is inclined to have a dominant attitude with his own kind. Plus, being a Texas Longhorn he is totally different from other breeds of cattle. Longhorns are just plain smart and these crossbred, penning steer calves haven't got a clue! LOL However, we do ride our saddlebroke bull/herd sire Premier Testarossa out in the pasture with cows and mature steers. However, he is very broke w/ extensive training. Besides when training the bulls to ride, we don't let them make any decisions when they are being handled. They are taught to wait to be told everything! Mainly because their decision making may not necessarily coinside with ours! LOL Here are some photos of the bull out on the ranch. You can view photos of him in public at www.premierlonghorns.com/Premier-Testarossa.html
