Cow type for MAB

We were going to experiment with MAB this year on a couple of cows. What type of cow do you all believe he clicks with the best? The pictures I have seen he seems shoulder heavy and breaks a bit. Wouldn't a feminine made female with clean front compliment him? I have two females that are percentage simmi and consistently throw small calves in the 60-70# range. Extremely nice females just wanted to see how he might work on them.

Yes, clean fronted and flat shoulders is about the only criteria needed to use him on.

I would use a big cow, 1600 to 1800# would be the ticket.

Thanks for the replys. I think my two female may fit the bill. Both have some growth curve in their calves and finish very well.

Mark i have an amazing bull that has given me prospects pictured. He is purebed maine 7/8 shorthorn. I just want go clubby on two simmi x maine gals that are more of my top performs. Its just so hard to catch them in heat. They usually breed in 30 days. We just want to branch out little more. These girls were really that thick and deep bodied. Not they were sold open as i had alot of question if they were bred. The boys are great blend of some of the best herds in the nation.

Those are SOME WAY GOOD calves Ohio-can you post the bull? Is he a red one that came from Bushy Park or one of the known maine deals? The bull calf pictured that Heeter (and various others from Iowa to Texas to Wyoming) used sired a couple $8-10000 calves out of Heeters pen to a trader. They were out of 7/8 short-maine cows-and one of them reminded me of Knabes cow so I responded as such: like to see the sire of your calves tho. O0

Mark- I have some pasture pictures. I don't have any fancy pictures. He is very masculine and breeds aggressively. He is a Boomer son which is Sooner's full brother.

I wish I had a good picture but last Summer we used MAB on two plainer made but deep bodied big brute cows one was Sim-Angus and was a BC Lookout daughter and the other just a Sim-Angus with a bit of Hereford way down in the bloodlines.  We have a beautiful heifer calf and a beautiful bull calf both born unassisted but keep in mind they were pretty good sized cows.

All of the good MAB's we have had have been out of zipper fronted smooth shouldered cows that aren't on the small side.  He will add power, mass, and bone to them.
