Farm shots

We put CIDRs in cows today (5 day protocol), so I thought I would take some photos while I was out with the cattle  ;D What do you think?

The first pic is of our Upgrade half blood. She is a September and will be shown next year by my middle daughter.
The second pic (dee) is of our very first purebred angus; she is 75 days old and by Pioneer and a Freedom cow we bought.
The third photo is of her and her Freedom dam. She is 5 years old and we are breeding her to Analyse This next weekend for a halfblood.
The fourth photo (Mo) is our Mo Better 3/4 blood bull calf, about 30 days old (Oct 14) His mom is in my avatar

The first is a 6 year old Westfall Crossfire cow who just calved this week
the second pic is of her calf, a Rendition bull calf (weighed 80 pounds and has TONS of curly thick hair!)
The third picture is just a random pasture shot, cows in the distance
And the last one is of the Crossfire cow laying with her rendition calf.
I love living in Missouri, it is so pretty out here!  ;D

Thanks Aussie! All our cows are AI'd, so everything born on our place has top genetics (or we hope!  ;D) We are trying to make a name for ourselves, since we are the "new kids".

SSimmentals, she is by HK Wide Awake, which is a new herd bull that Oval F is using. He is a triple C Wake Up Call x Lucky Dice. Her dam is a half blood, Net worth on sire side and an Oval F Sarah cow. She has great EPD's and was in the Missouri State sale. The cattle in the sale were CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP all the way around. You won't find prices that cheap again in a long time. If I had more hay I would have picked up a bunch more. It was hard to sit on my hands!!! Some really good cattle. A Steel Force heifer that is a maternal sister to Miley Cottontail was the highest at $3500  Most of the heifers were less than $1500. I would not be surprised if a bunch went back home with their consigners...

OK, updated farm shots  ;D The first photo is the October 3/4 blood by Mo Better (with the white on the face). Sorry his face is cut off, but he did not want to cooperate this morning!

The second shot is of the late November Rendition bull calf. LOTS of white! He is about 30 days old now...

The third shot is the purebred angus cow (TC Freedom) and calf (Pioneer). She was born August 31, and MUCH smaller than our two Simmental bull calves. Being our first Angus, I am not sure if that is normal for them to be so much smaller. I know I need to get the creep feeder set up for the three, cause the angus calf sure looks like she needs it!

Oh, I had to throw the last one out. My daughter (15) breeding the cow in my avatar! She would kill me if she knew I put this out there, but I am just so proud of all she has accomplished in her short life! We have been real busy breeding the last three weeks. The most ever - setting up 10 cows! That is big for us (you see we only had three this fall, we are tripling that next fall!).  <party>

Thought I would update some pics.

The first two pics is of our Pioneer heifer calf. Purebred, out of a TC Freedom cow. We are selling the cow, bred to our bull, in March at the Missouri State Simmental sale.
The third pic is our December embryo bull, by Built Right, and we are consigning him to the State Simmental sale also.
The fourth photo is our fall bulls, a Mo Better (on right) and Rendition (left). I think we are going to cut the Mo Better, he is awesome but his EPD's aren't great. He will make a great steer.
The 5th photo is our Oval F heifer. She is an April 3/4 blood. My daughter plans on showing her this year...

Nice looking cattle and you should be proud of a daughter that can do the things that would gross out most boys or girls her age

The first photo is our great cow, BBSF Bling Bling. She is 5 years old and having her 5th calf next month, a heifer by Fat Butt  <party>
The second photo is her daughter by Real McCoy, due to calf in Feb to Moving Forward, another heifer.
The third photo is our February bull by Amigo, which is also selling in the Missouri State Sale in March.
And the last one is our Mo Better calf, an October, thinking of steering him.

We think we got a good group of cattle. Earlier I posted a pic of our steer (feeding a steer), he is bred and owned also. He got cut because he was the  youngest of the spring bulls and we needed a steer for the freezer  ;D

;D That was one of those "lets hurry and go breed before we leave for school" moments! She was all dressed and hair straightened, and I made her change  10 minutes later she was back to her school clothes and off to school. That cow stuck, to KHLER Make it Rain... looking forward to seeing that mating.
She is a great kid, gets straight A's and wants to be a vet. She works harder than most boys  (thumbsup)

I'm not sure Mark, since we bought her in October as a yearling, and I do not think it was recorded. Her mom is an angus owned by Ratcliff, Cork Cattle Co and the gal we bought her from. Her dam is positive for TH, but we have not got the results back on the heifer . She has a great set of EPD's, with a yearling of 80 and API of 140 and TI of 81. Her CE is 11.5 and BW -1. She is big gutted and will be a larger cow (she is already around 1250 pounds at 15 months). If I was to change something, it would be to walk base wider, because when she walks away she is not real wide between her legs. We are real happy with her, and have bred a few of our cows to Upgrade because we like her. She has a wonderful personality to, which is great since my 10 year old is showing her this year at regionals and nationals.  ;D

He is a Built Right by a really nice Drake Stress Free cow. I will attach a pic of her. She is strictly flushed now, since she is 11 years old and they are just realizing her value. Her first flush yielded 52 eggs (this bull is part of that flush and we have the last egg in due for September this year)!  ;D

Like all of your pics, very nice cattle  (thumbsup). Wish we could get some weather like that here in Michigan. One day it might be in the 20 to 30s and the next day it might be in the upper 50s, needless to say theirs mud everywhere you turn.
